miamisammy29 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Any correspondence will be used as toilet paper. Hah! That'll learn 'em. I wasn't trying to be a point thief, but the question did specifically stress BOTH DUDES. And just for the record, I apologized to Brad through private message. I was just joshing him with the "Master Fender" comment. I truly meant it as a joke. That is all. I hope I offended no one else. If I did, I apologize to them also.
katie_sane Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Question 2. Is it The Sweet Inspirations? I am reading a book about Elvis's career at the moment.
edna Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 That must be the right answer, Katie... that´s Cissy Houston´s band and I guess the relatives are Dionne & Whitney. OldFif, next time you post a pic of the Beatles (or Bowie, or Byrne, or any easy one...) I´ll be there to guess, I sweare it!! I get the hard ones lately... or I´m not often home... ::
Elvish Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Could Q3 be songs about rain? "The Rainmaker" 5th Dimension "I've Been Rained On Too" Tom Jones and, of course, "Kentucky Rain" Elvis Presley
_Laurie_ Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Q3...in common...Puppet? elvis..puppet on a string or puppet man 5th D..puppet man jones..puppet man
Brad_M Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Ques. #3: Could it be songs that have to do with breaking up? Elvis: Heartbreak Hotel 5th D: One Less Bell To Answer T. Jones: I'll Never Fall In Love Again
bazooka Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 From a couple pages back: The Hollies' version This Wheel's On Fire I was interrupted by my slavin' job before I could post it.
OLD 55 Posted July 11, 2005 Report Posted July 11, 2005 Ladies to the fore ! Nice to see you Elvish. Question 2. Is it The Sweet Inspirations? I am reading a book about Elvis's career at the moment. :coolio:CONGRATULATIONS KATIE!!! WELL DONE. 5 POINTS The Sweet Inspirations, with Cissy Houston as Edna said. Their only Top 20 Hit was titled "Sweet Inspiration". Q3...in common...Puppet? elvis..puppet on a string 5th D..puppet man jones..puppet man, Young New Mexican Puppeteer :coolio:CONGRATULATIONS LAURIE!!! WELL DONE & 5 POINTS TO YOU. Puppet it is, and they were all Top 40 Hits for them. Funny, Tom Jones' version of Puppet Man didn't chart here, being outsold by the 5th Dimension, and I didn't know Elvis did a version. Val and I have a few things to do today so I won't be around for a while. I'll try to find a Quizpic and pop it on. It's difficult to find one that's not too hard or not too easy. I thought David Byrne and Peter Gabriel looked a lot different in that 1989 picture. And if I hadn't given the clue of "a couple of GIRLS" I wonder if the Weather Girls would have gone off yet? (not taking away from Kevin -maybe he knew it). Hi Brad and Bazooka too.
OLD 55 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 My scanner just doesn't like Adobe Photo Deluxe. It took 3 goes to get this Old Pic. Q. Who's the Group? Their only Big Hit came in the early 1970s.
_Laurie_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 it looks like The Knack singing My Sharona!
_jr_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Is it The Shocking Blue? I can't tell if that's a girl in the back or not.
Brad_M Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Do I get a participation point by seconding the motion on jr's answer? I can just hear the song "Venus" playing when I look at that pic.
_jr_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 I also want to say the Lemon Pipers, but I think that was earlier. Well. The Shocking Blue or The Lemon Pipers. Those are my two guesses, I suppose.
_jr_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Rats. the Lemon Pipers have five members. Oh well, too late now. That's ok, I have another guess. I'll just have to wait.
OLD 55 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 None of the above, unfortunately. :)The figure at the back is a guy. Keep up the good guesses though!
_jr_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Frijid Pink? Marmalade? I'm going to bed. G'night all.
OLD 55 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Frijid Pink? :coolio:CONGRATULATIONS jr YOU GOT IT. 5 Points to You. Their one big Hit in 1970 was a cover of the Animals'"House Of The Rising Sun". I'm just on the way out. I'll try to put some new questions on later.
_jr_ Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Heck, I ought to get it. It seems like I'm the only one playing right now. C'mon 55, toss me some easy ones. I've got to climb back in this thing.
bluesboy Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Watch out for land sharks, Jr. doo do, doo-do doodo
OLD 55 Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Yes, where are all those other people who said they'd participate in the Quiz? I hope Joe is OK? I'll send him an Email. Here's a NEW QUESTION: Who's this 70s Group ? They were successful worldwide. Hope it's not too difficult. Good Luck.
SoulGirl Posted July 12, 2005 Report Posted July 12, 2005 Yes, where are all those other people who said they'd participate in the Quiz? i keep coming and checking the questions but they're all too hard for me and i have exams right now so don't have the time to google! but exams finish thursday so i hope to participate from then on!
