TheLizard
The song "Shoot Out at Fantasy Factory" by Traffic recently came on my Pandora radio. I was really enjoying it, when I realized I know nothing about the band. So, does anyone wish to enlighten me?
logan01
Not to be rude, wikipedia can really help you with this @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traffic_%28band%
Red Fish
Well to be rude, GO TO WIKIPEDIA, YOU DENSE RETARD!! I think he wanted to post to get a more personal opinion thing, though.
katie_sane
I'm interested in hearing more about Traffic too. They've been nominated a few times in the Top Tens, so I've listened to three of their songs which I really liked.
logan01
To young katie_sane. If the wikipedia info is too "structured" as text, here's my personal opinon. This comes from someone who experienced them as they were becoming major artists. In summary, they came from already established, yet young, very good bands. They quickly became a great band and went on through their professional evolution (went their different ways) to continue their music today. In a time when talented performers were very common, Traffic shined like the most brilliant star.
katie_sane
no, the wikipedia article is not too structured, and thank you for posting it. I like hearing your personal opinions though, as I'm sure Tim (starter of this thread) does too.
edna
I was a Traffic fan and I still have two or three lps (John Barleycorne must die, Welcome to the Canteen and Mr Fantasy. Shoot out at the Fantasy Factory is also somewhere. I´ll have to get the cds one day...) I guess I have nothing to add to wikipedia... They were fantastic. Tenacious_Peaches
I've always been fascinated with "The Low Spark Of High-Heeled Boys". That title just kills me. And although I always think of Joe Cocker's version, they did "Feelin' Alright" originally.
Sweet Jane 61
Traffic is a group that just hypnotized me for the most part. Steve Winwood, Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi's talents are top notch. Their songwriting for the time was intriguing. Low Spark is one of my fav tunes, the song is a classic in every sense of the word. Whenever you talk about psychedelic rock you have to think of Traffic. The group was short lived, which is a bummer, but there is some great music from Traffic. Check out the live CD, "The Last Great Traffic Jam", it is cool, it is from 2005. Earlier albums to take a listen too, "Traffic", "John Barleycorn Must Die", "The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys", and anther live one "Last Exit". phil
I love traffic. Saw them live back in the 70's in Madison Square Garden. Killer band live. Dave Mason was still with them at that time. I remember the Garden being very smoky that night.
