Jenny
Summer always makes me think of Jimmy Buffett. I couldn't find a good video on You Tube of Jane's favorite..."Why Don't We Get Drunk", so I picked another good one: Fins

Jenny
That is a cool song, Farin. And I listened to a couple more, "Rebell", "Bitte Bitte" and "Unrock Bar". Good songs.
Farin
Jenny you just made my day - if not even the whole week - and so I don't mind that with your post I just lost a bet "Rebell" is a song with very good lyrics, I remember doing a translation here, I see if I can find it again... "Unrockbar" hasn't anything to do with a bar, but is a fictitious expression meaning something like "unrockable", about a girlfriend who only listens to light Pop ("since you live with me / every day there sounds Shakira through the house / I can't bear it anymore / I think I'll kick you out") btw Die Ärzte have, for a Rock band, a relativly large following of female fans, among others because of songs like this: 1/2 Lovesong I know you will miss me even if you have to go now no more violins when we're kissing I just didn't know I hope my words are not making it worse Just forget your pride for a minute I know you still love me Should that be it? (like in a Lovesong) Can't we think up a solution? (like in a Lovesong) The reality is much too small (for a Lovesong) And I only love you Much has been depraved to habit but that's a normal risk Routine has taken its place until we couldn't live with it anymore I hope my words are not making it worse Just forget your pride for a minute I know you still love me Should that be it? (like in a Lovesong) Can't we think up a solution? (like in a Lovesong) The reality is much too small (for a Lovesong) And I only love you I know you will miss me - I'm already missing you I'm missing the violins too, miss kissing you Nothing on this world that could replace you I hope my words are not making it worse Just forget your pride for a minute I know you still love me Should that be it? (like in a Lovesong) Can't we think up a solution? (like in a Lovesong) The reality is much too small (for a Lovesong) And I only love you And I only love you... Jenny
Thanks, Martin. Now that I can understand the words, I will look up that one on YouTube as well.
Farin
just for the record (not only to you Jenny) if or when somebody wants to have a translation of a German song (doesn't matter if I put up a link or you found it on your own) I'm very happy to do it for you... you only have to ask! the worst thing I will tell you would be something like "I don't have time today and will do it tomorrow" sometimes I will do and have done some of my own accord, but the feedback has usually been very slim, and I won't bother if nobody reads them anyway... so don't be too shy to ask

Farin
that song ("Cry for Love") is actually one of the (if not THE) most popular Anti-Nazi song there is! Your violence is just a silent cry for love your Jump Boots are longing for tenderness you never learned to articulate yourself and your parents never had time for you oh, oh, oh - *sshole! Edited June 28, 2007 by Guest forgot the filter - but notice that I never heard this passage *bleeped* in the song, neither in the Radio or MTV or anywhere... Farin
I kinda liked this one... Die Ärzte - Schrei nach Liebe someone DID ask for a translation, and since I'm awfully lazy, I googled first You are really stupid That's why you feel good Hate is your grand attitude and Your blood is always boiling Everything must be explained `cause You don't know a single thing. I don't think you even know what The word 'attitude' means Your violence is just a silent cry for love Your Jump Boots* long for tenderness, You never learned how to articulate yourself, And your parents never had time for you ...ohhh... a**hole! Why are you afraid of carressing, what's with all this nonsense? Under the laurel wreath bound with acorns, I know there beats a heart, And romantic isn't just grey theory to you Between "Störkraft" and the "Onkelz" hovers a Kuschelrock LP! ** Your violence is just a silent cry for love Your Jump Boots* long for tenderness, You never learned how to articulate yourself, And your parents never had time for you ...ohhh... a**hole! Because you've got problems nobody wants to know about, Just because you're afraid to hug, You're a fascist You don't have to lash your selfhatred on to others, So that no one realizes what a nice guy*** you are... ohhh... Your violence is just a silent cry for love Your Jump Boots* long for tenderness, You never learned how to articulate yourself, And your girlfriend never had time for you ...ohhh... a**hole! a**hole! a**hole! * I don't know about the US, but in Germany Jump Boots are very closely associated with the right-wing skinhead scene (unless you're in the army) ** Störkraft and the "Böhse Onkelz" are/were two bands closely thought of as right-wing (Onkelz) or downright fascist (Störkraft). in current live versions they often sing "between Störkraft and the others" - not to reverse their oppinion, but to further degrade the Onkelz by not even stating their name... "Kuschelrock" (lit "Snuggle Rock") is a compilation of Romantic Soft Rock *** in current live versions they usually sing something along the lines "So that no one realizes what a stupid pig you are"

Shawna
My friend had me listen to this song on her iPod when we were on the plane to New Orleans. I laughed my butt off... Tonight she sent me this video to go with it - it's twice as funny now. And such good medicine for anyone who's gone through a breakup... Must watch to the very end - it's the best part! Jenny
I really like this song, Shawna. Lily Allen is cool. I like how the music and her singing are so sweet and sunny, but the lyrics are saying "kiss off, buster"
