bazooka will take a try at dishing out some Clues.

I've been concerned about being around to monitor the answers, but I'll check back as soon as I can.

1. This song with a very short title has three separate videos and ranked as the fifth most popular song of all time in a poll.

2. Only you and me.

3. Triple the dame.

4. A muscle car engine or a cleaning formula.

5. A conspicuous small group of faithful followers.

6. Trucker's happy ditty.

7. There must be a lot of water to cross over on this route.

8. It would add fifty-two spaces on the calendar.

9. The latest Gypsy-recommended passion-producing elixir.

10.Occurrences a decade back.

1. One - U2

I think I can safely say we have 1,2,3,4,8,9 and 10 right (or at least we are on the right track), which pretty much gives away the theme if you look at the answers. It doesn't help me out with the rest though.

You catch on fast, c s 1987 ! ;)

You're right on 1. One

Uncle Joe got 2. Just The Two Of Us, 4. 409, and 9. Love Potion Number Nine

OLD 55 has number 8. Eight Days A Week

Shawna picked up number 3. Three Times A Lady

daslied's answer for 10 is nearly workable, but not precisely in tune with the Clue.

So 5, 6, 7 & 10 still to be deduced.

That's a 'negatory' on number 6, Shawna. (Look to the 'theme')

6. Trucker's happy ditty. This song (written by two guys named 'Earl') was a hit on the Country charts in 1963. Since then, it's been covered by countless artists in various genres.

5. A conspicuous small group of faithful followers ... A lesser track from Mr. Zimmerman’s classic double album ( Charlie McCoy plays harmonica on this one)

daslied obviously knows Mr. Zimmerman ("You can call me Bobby or you can call me Zimmy ")

And Peaches brought it home like a foxy trucker.

(" I got ten forward gears, And a sweet Georgia overdrive.

I'm takin' little white pills, And my eyes are open wide ")

Six Days .. vaulted to number two on Billboard's Country charts in the summer of 1963, managing a surprising number 32 on the Pop side. From there on, Dudley would be revered among truckers as their singing spokesman, chronicling their exploits with the uncompromising follow-ups Truck Drivin' Son-of-a-Gun in 1965 and Trucker's Prayer in 1967. Steve Earle, Boxcar Willie, George Thorogood, Sawyer Brown, and the Flying Burrito Brothers have all slipped behind the wheel of Six Days on the Road, but none transformed it quite the blues-rocking way Taj Mahal did on his 1969 remake.

6. Trucker's happy ditty. This song (written by two guys named 'Earl') was a hit on the Country charts in 1963.

Although some good-for-nothing sites tagged them 'Earl' and 'Earl', they are actually Earl Green and Carl Montgomery ( 'furniture movers' -- if this site can be trusted)

A little note on the name change for this thread. Old 55 PT'ed me and suggested that from now on, any contributors to this thread always have a topical top 10 based on a theme. I thought it was a good idea, so he asked the mods of this forum to change the title.

Bazooka had a great topical ten, and if I'd been around to play, my brain would probably be a pretzel by now.

I have a themed one ready to go, but as I won't be around too much longer today, I will leave the floor open for someone else.
