PSYCHOcatholic Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 How many bands do you know of with lead singing drummers, i know that The Monkees had Micky Dolenz...he sang lead on I'm a Believer. Ringo Starr...not really sure what he did, im just now starting to get into the Beatles. And Don Henley of The Eagles sings lead quite a bit... do you guys know of any others?? Apologies if something like this has been posted before.
OLD 55 Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Karen Carpenter until she was told to "just sing", which of course she did so beautifully.
katie_sane Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 Phil Collins? Peter Criss of KISS sang a few tunes.
SoulGirl Posted January 23, 2005 Report Posted January 23, 2005 doe dave grohl ever drum and sing simultaneously? as far as i know he only either sings or plays drums and his drumming is largely confined to the studio.... i could stand corrected though... anyone?
Elvish Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Phil Collins. Also, the lead singer of 3 Doors Down was the drummer. But I saw them live last year and he didn't do both - I'm not sure if that's just for concerts or if he's given up drumming completely.
edna Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 Caroline, from the Corrs... I saw her singing too...
Batman Posted January 24, 2005 Report Posted January 24, 2005 I immediately thought of Buddy Miles. Also, Dave Grohl sings some harmony on many Nirvana songs. And Meg White sings a song called "In the cold cold night" on the White Stripes CD "Elephant," although she doesn't play any drums on that song.
Carl Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 I remember watching a video by The Romantics where there drummer was singing. It can't be easy to sing and drum at the same time.
OLD 55 Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Dave Clark of the great 1960s British Invasion Band, The Dave Clark Five ! They had more hits in the U.S. than they did in the U.K. Q. How can you tell if the stage is level ? A. The drummer drools evenly from both sides of his mouth. WHY are people so cruel to drummers??? ::
SoulGirl Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Q. what do you call a drummer without a girlfriend? A. homeless! aaah yes, drummer jokes.... oh that hanson boy drummer and sang backing vocals, zachary, the youngest one.
masoleumrent Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Keith Moon sings 'Bell Boy' on 'Quadrophenia'......
The Seeker Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 ...as well as some other, mainly unknown Who-songs and some songs on Odds And Sods. He also sang on his solo album, but drummed only on one song.
Steel2Velvet Posted January 25, 2005 Report Posted January 25, 2005 Dave Clark of the great 1960s British Invasion Band, The Dave Clark Five ! They had more hits in the U.S. than they did in the U.K. While Dave Clark WAS the drummer and featured name of the group, Mike Smith played keyboards and sang lead.
