Question A: Jeff Buckley

Question B: John Lennon

:coolio:A DOUBLE - YOLKER! CONGRATULATIONS X 2 ELVISH. :) :)

A. The late Jeff Buckley it was. Hard to believe it's nearly 8 years since his death.

B. John Lennon on Issues # 74 January 21 1971 and #75 (with Yoko) February 4 1971 . This question was courtesy of jr. but he did NOT SAY the "mid-eighties", which would have been Issues numbered 400+. That was completely MY ERROR and I apologise for any inconvenience caused. :(

The points stand though: 5 to Elvish and 2 to edna.

Thanks to Sammy and Uncle for participating. Sorry I misled you!

We might have to make it that everyone gets a point for actually getting into the thread. Funny how it's gotten slowwwwer since the GREEN DEATH . I'm all for advertising, but if that is what's slowing the Site down - well, you can advertise all you want, but it's useless if there's no one there to see it !

A. The late Jeff Buckley it was. Hard to believe it's nearly 8 years since his death.

B. John Lennon on Issues # 74 and #75 (with Yoko), 1985. This question courtesy of jr. I thought the "mid-eighties" would be tricky, but you and edna (gets 2 points)both knew it.

Wow! I was pretty certain about the Jeff Buckley one, but Lennon was a wild guess. ::

All had songs about playing cards or hearts (specifically, i think)

Queen of Hearts ~ Juice Newton

Winner Takes It All - ABBA

Night Owl - Little River Band

Little River Band's "Lonesome Loser" fits your theme even better, swlabr:

"Have you heard about the lonesome loser

Beaten by the queen of hearts every time

Have you heard about the lonesome loser

He's a loser, but he still keeps on tryin'"

The Answer is:

All had songs about playing cards, and the 3 songs are:

Queen of Hearts ~ Juice Newton

The Winner Takes It All - ABBA

The Lonesome Loser - Little River Band

There's no reference to playing cards in "Night Owl". How about I make it 3 Points each? Does that sound fair?

Thanks Ladies.:coolio: WELL DONE, BOTH OF YOU ! :) :) I got "dropped out" over an hour ago and couldn't get back in until now! Crazy!

Elvish, well done on "John Lennon", but I made a mess of the question. I don't know if you read my amended post? (Points still count of course!).

Good on you Laurie! jr, Brewer & Shipley sound like Lawyers!

:) They had a great top 10 hit in 1971 with "One Toke Over The Line", a semi-gospel song on which Jerry Garcia played guitar.

NEW QUESTION

Sorry, I had to go out for a couple of hours!

WHO's THE FAMOUS GROUP? Formed in late 60s, very short lived. From the final lineup ALL went on to successful careers solo/and or with other Groups.

Teetotalling Ladies' Lament. :(

"Oh he has kisses sweeter than wine

But lips that touch liquor

Shall never touch mine".

:jester:

Kevin, I have been a teetotaller for about 20 years.

The Organisation I worked for gave me stomach trouble. I should have sued the rotten Bs for "inability to have a beer". I wonder if they ever had that "Watch Your Back" sign made that I suggested? Or the two hatracks with white and black hats? In the movies when I was a kid, the goodies always wore white hats and the baddies wore black ones. It could have worked in the office too!
