edna Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Anybody knows which is the longest song released and how much it lasts? Thank you!
Earth-Angel Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I have a few CD's that are only 1 or 2 songs long. They are mostly drum 'n bass albums though. Just one DJ mixing a whole lot of songs into one long song. Perhaps you mean a rock song or something by a single artist
edna Posted December 4, 2004 Author Report Posted December 4, 2004 Hi, Eart-Angel! yes, I´ve been asked for that... I said "Sad eyed Lady of the Lowlands" (Dylan) but seems they need to know how much it lasts and also it must be a rock or pop song ( no Djs mixes or so) I´m so glad each time I see a post of yours, Suzie...
EasyRider Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I remember an album my brother had back in the early 70's.It was by STEPPENWOLF.The album's title was EARLY STEPPENWOLF.It had a really spooky version of THE PUSHER on it that was 23 minutes long.I believe it was recorded live at a place called THE MATRIX in San Francisco in 1967.
edna Posted December 4, 2004 Author Report Posted December 4, 2004 Thanks, Easy! I´m keeping this info...
EasyRider Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 Hi Edna....glad to hear that by the way,I was surprised to learn that Hoyt Axton wrote the lyrics. He just never struck me as the type of guy who would write this kind of song.LOL
Aunt_Acid Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 One of these days, I'm going to make a song that's 48 minutes long. You just wait and see. The longest song I know of is Dogs, but that song gets pwned l3ngthwise by all these.
EasyRider Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I did some investigating and found that THE PUSHER is actually 21:36 minutes long.
edna Posted December 4, 2004 Author Report Posted December 4, 2004 I got it... I mean, easy got it for me!!! Thank you very much Easy, and Sue, and Jr, and Chris...!!
behindblueeyez Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 What is it? Thick As A Brick by Jethro Tull is 45 minutes or something, if I remember right...
Earth-Angel Posted December 4, 2004 Report Posted December 4, 2004 I believe EasyRiders link leads to this: Chris Butler's 1996 single "The Devil Glitch" does indeed hold the record for "The World's Longest Recorded Pop Song", clocking in at 69 minutes and including over 500 verses.

Jimmy1104 Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 A song that came to mind immediately was Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant. That cut lasts close to half an hour. I am not sure how many would consider it a song or rather a just a guy telling a tale with a musical interlude.
Kevin Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 "American Pie" FEELS like the longest song when it 's on the radio ! ( he ducks) This rant more likely belongs with the "Why Stairway.." thread, but to quote jillian, "meh", .... now honestly ! What in the hell does that mean ? (but it feels good though) PLEASE, someone....have mercy....I've done what could be considered to be back checking and I can't find it anywhere -- Meh ( I WILL use it foolishly if no one obliges) !

MuzikTyme Posted December 6, 2004 Report Posted December 6, 2004 hi guys this is my first post!!! Well you guys obviously havent heard of the allman bros Funny guy. You obviously didn't click the link provided by our observant bazooka. You'll find cosmosis' mention. Welcome to Songfacts. One bit of advice: Try not to underestimate the vast musical knowledge of members here. Edna, I mentioned the longest song in my collection in the other thread, Light of Day, Day of Darkness by Green Carnation (an hour long). There's more information in bazooka's link.
