AliceNchains Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Im only Sleeping. The best beatles song because johns voice is just incredible and no one can sing like that, but other songs are good like "In my Life" and "Julia".
Aunt_Acid Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I think it would be something from Abbey Road. Because Abbey Road is tehr0x0r!z!111~~~one
_Annabelle_ Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 I'd have to say "In My Life". The music is just beautiful and I especially enjoy the harpsichord-like solo. Both the vocals and the lyrics are wonderfully bittersweet... "There are places I'll remember all my life Though some have changed Some forever not for better Some have gone and some remain All these places had their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall Some are dead and some are living In my life I've loved them all But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you And these mem'ries lose their meaning When I think of love as something new Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I'll love you more Though I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before I know I'll often stop and think about them In my life I'll love you more In my life I'll love you more" ... overall an amazing song.
vincegillstwin Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 The Long and Winding Road. Haunting.
vincegillstwin Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Dork. They didn't ask for a movie. The haunting wasn't a Beatles movie. I think it was a Janis Joplin/Jimi Hendrix flick.
vincegillstwin Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 She wasn't much good at sticking around, but that girl could sing.
vincegillstwin Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 that's not a Beatle song and this is a Beatle thread. Now lets get back on topic. Beat this.
OLD 55 Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 HELLO GOODBYE. The harmonies, the beat and Hey La.... DAY TRIPPER. That opening guitar riff. SOMETHING. George! Guitar and vocals. SHE LOVES YOU.Quintessential (hate the word) early Beatles. HEY JUDE. You've just gotta sing along with it.
cosmosis Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Mr. Kite - the 3d sound effects Don't Let Me Down - John's vocal performance A Day In The Life - best song ever recorded Taxman - the drum rolls and lyrics Let It Be - the whole aura around it And Your Bird Can Sing - even though John says it doesn't make sense, it is musically great and the harmonies are freaking awesome I'm Only Sleeping - what alicenchains said and the backward guitars Tomorrow Never Knows - the drums, vocals and all the sounds Fixing A Hole - don't know, I just like it a lot Hello Goodbye - what Old 55 said I could go on for ever
Danielj Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Yesterday Let it be Strawberry Fields Forever Eleanor Rigby
Steel2Velvet Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 Something The guitar solo, the bass lines, the backing vocals. Frank Sanatra once said it was the best love song ever written.

Tammy11173 Posted November 28, 2004 Report Posted November 28, 2004 'Here,There, and Everywhere.' It's just such a beautiful song.
OLD 55 Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 i am the walrus John Lennon got the inspiration for the song from a police siren I suppose he was a musical genius
cosmosis Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 from http://www.turnmeondeadman.net/IBP/Walrus.html about people trying to find clues about Paul's death on I Am The Walrus: "To look for clues in "I Am the Walrus" is rather ironic, since, according to Pete Shotton, John intended to write a song with nonsensical imagery to confound those who looked for significance in every Beatle lyric. After recalling a grotesque song they used to sing as children, John strung together the most ludicrous imagery he could think of. Shotton recalls that after writing the song, "He turned to me, smiling. 'Let the f_ckers work that one out, Pete.'" [1] Still, this hasn't stopped people from looking for "Paul is dead" clues in the song." and from http://aboutthebeatles.com/song-i_am_the_walrus.html "I Am the Walrus" was made up of three distinctly different songs--the first is the beginning of the song, which John was given the idea of by hearing a distant police siren. The second song was about John sitting in his garden at home ("sitting in an English garden..."). The third was a song which was invented after John learned that a teacher was having his students study Beatles songs for meaning. John created the song with nonsense lines such as "elementary penguins", "sitting on a cornflake", and "crabalocker". John later said "Let (the students) work that one out." "I Am the Walrus" is notorious for being one of the first rock songs to use an orchestra. ELO leader and "Free As A Bird" producer Jeff Lynne said that the arrangement of "I Am the Walrus" heavily influenced the sound of his band." I guess is a little bit of this with some of that just to screw up people trying to find any meanings ::
bluesboy Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 It seems impossible to choose, there's dozens. They're all best in their own way. early Beatles - All My loving and I'll agree with Edna about Across the Universe
EasyRider Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 The Long And Winding Road...is the only Beatles song that can bring a tear to my eye.For me that makes it the best. The Long And Winding Road (Lennon/McCartney) The long and winding road that leads to your door, Will never disappear, I've seen that road before It always leads me here, leads me to your door. The wild and windy night the rain washed away, Has left a pool of tears crying for the day. Why leave me standing here, let me know the way Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried, but Still they lead me back to the long and winding road You left me standing here a long, long time ago Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to you door Da, da, da, da--
golden_ann Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Let it Be and Something. Both are so beautiful in arrangement and meaning.
windy1 Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 Can you really choose? The many songs that could be picked are so diverse how can you choose. This coming from a Stones person. But it's true, I can appreciate the Beatles talent, and then there are just sheer numbers to contend with. I don't think there can be a "best".
cosmosis Posted November 29, 2004 Report Posted November 29, 2004 since many Beatles fans will be checking out this thread, i decided to post here Let It Be... Paul funniestthing I've seen today... and is midnight
