Mr Taxman
Just wondering what people think is the best outro or ending to a song?
Jimmy1104
The final note at the end of the Beatle's "A Day In The Life".
MindCrime
Metallica - Fade to Black Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven Eagles - Hotel California There's plenty more, but too many to list I could think of a few Stones & Beatles songs that had terrific endings. bluesboy
Honorable mention should be made to: The Beatles - I Am the Walrus I am the eggman, they are the eggmen I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob. Goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob g'goo.
cosmosis
the album version of 'revolution #9' has some trippy vocals at the very ending just before it faeds out and becomes inaudible. I heard somewhere that it actually went on for quite a long time. Did a longer version ever leaked out? I meant #1 ::

cosmosis
fyi, I always reply to the answers to my questions. I got me about 8 Wings CDs 2 Harrison CDs and I'm still missing CD1 of Anthology I. I've spent a few hours at the site Jimmy posted and Im saving for the book. I was absorving data and my opinions are changing like never before right now. You can say I was getting ready for a few more questions. I didn't want to bump the thread just to say thank you. But since we are talking about this, thank you for you post. It was really great.

skook
I have to agree with you on that one. It was 4 or 5 pianos all played at the same time.
_Annabelle_
The final note at the end of the Beatle's "A Day In The Life". An excellent outro indeed and my choice as well. As for intros, I couldn't say which is the best but a few favorites leap to mind: - "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle" - GNR - "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin - "Pinball Wizard" - The Who - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - The Beatles - "Bloody Well Right" - Supertramp. XXX
- The guitar solo for Journey's "Who's Crying Now?" is a notable one. - I kinda like how the flute fades with the rest of the instruments in The Smiths' "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"
KrazyKeith
Wow, someone mentioned When the Levee Breaks. That's the first one that came to my mind. Other good ones are Can't You Hear Me Knocking by the Stones and Double Talkin' Jive by GNR.
bluesboy
Or... the Beatles - I want you(she's so heavy) the she's so heavy part At the 4:38 mark / of 7:37 regular version. ____ Our Love was like the water that splashes on a stone ~ Rolling Stones No Expectations
bazooka
Fire Down Below by Bob Seger. I only like some Bob Seger. I think this song is possibly his best. It sounds like it's all done, and then (1-2-3-) you get a burnin' bonus.

Aunt_Acid
The final note at the end of the Beatle's "A Day In The Life". That is the most overrated note in song history.
_Annabelle_
That is the most overrated note in song history. Actually its really more of a chord but still one of the best endings .
Uncle Joe
Let's not forget Bonzo Dog Band's "Intro/Outro". It's simply the best, bar none. LOL..."J Arthur Rank on gong."
rico
All right, another outro person! (I've always thought that songs that just kind of faded out were really boring.) Okay, Beatles: The End (how can all of you savvy folk forget the most famous outro of all time, being the denouement to the last song on the last Beatles record ever recorded!) Helter Skelter (I got blisters on my fingers!) I'm So Tired (get a disc and play the ending backwards) Strawberry Fields Forever (I'm Very Bored??) Revolution #9 (take this brother may it serve you well) (Okay not a song per se, but I've always found it interesting that after all the acid trip and revolution and scenes from a nightmare stuff, it all ends up with chants from a football game. It somehow seems appropriate.) (Already mentioned and worthy-While My Guitar Gently Weeps; A Day In The Life; I Am The Walrus; I Want You (She's So Heavy)) Okay, rock anthems: (The best in this category by far, already mentioned-Stairway To Heaven.) Free Bird-Lynyrd Skynyrd Layla-Derek and The Dominoes In A-Gadda-Da-Vida-Iron Butterfly We Are The Champions-Queen Yes, I agree, Baba O'Riley has by far the greatest outro of all time, bar none, but how about these (eclecticly speaking): Baker Street-Gerry Rafferty Riders On The Storm-Doors Working Class Hero-John Lennon Black Magic Woman (long version)-Santana Jump Into The Fire (long version)-Nilsson Living For The City-Stevie Wonder All My Life-Foo Fighters Rock Lobster-B-52's Aqualung-Jethro Tull Taxi-Harry Chapin Flashlight-Parliament When Doves Cry (long version)-Prince Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana (or even Smells Like Nirvana by Weird Al) Rock On. :guitar:
