Mike Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Wow, I just paid $3.47 a gallon; I think that's the most I've EVER paid in my life!! (not in adjusted dollars necessarily - face value) In 1981, I probably paid more per gallon. (adj. for inflation) But it's damn close!! It hit $4.00/gal in Maui today!
Shawna Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I can remember when I was about 5, my family went on a road trip through the desert to visit my grandparents. We stopped at a little station in the middle of BFE, and the gas was 50 cents a gallon. Apalled, my mom shrieked, "50 cents a gallon? That's highway robbery!"
Tony Baloni Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 I remember how pissed everyone was when it went up to a dollar. Now people would be dancing if the streets if gas was a dollar.
CanAm Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Gas here is running at about $1.05/litre. That is roughly about $4.00/American gallon. In Alberta, we're sitting on the ruddy stuff and we still have to pay this outrageous price. Jeez Louise!!
Ken Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Gas here is running at about $1.05/litre. That is roughly about $4.00/American gallon. In Alberta, we're sitting on the ruddy stuff and we still have to pay this outrageous price. Jeez Louise!! I'm with you. It hit 1.09 a litre here, well over the 4.00 a gallon mark.....
Ken Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 It hit $4.00/gal in Maui today! If I lived in Maui, I wouldn't care if it was a hundred bucks a gallon.
Farin Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 gas is around 1.40€/litre here... with the current exchange rates that would be 2.19$/litre or 8.10$/gallon if I didn't miscalculate...
Levis Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 Save energy... take the bus/train/tram. Or ride a bike. Oh... and use fluorescent lightbulbs
The Seeker Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 And if I didn't miscalculate, gas is about 8.19$/gallon here. You guys were complaining?
Mike Posted March 14, 2008 Author Report Posted March 14, 2008 If I lived in Maui, I wouldn't care if it was a hundred bucks a gallon. I concur. Might effect you if choose taxi driver as a career.
Crazy Don Posted March 14, 2008 Report Posted March 14, 2008 This morning my local Exxon station had it for $3.459 a gallon, down from $3.499 on Tuesday.
Elvish Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I guess we should count ourselves lucky here in the Midwest - it has yet to hit three bucks, but is awfully close. Last I paid was $2.97.
Shawna Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Or ride a bike. you've never been to the southwest United States and experienced the freeway system, have you?
Ken Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 Do you guys come here to get gas? We did when it was far less expensive, but when you factor in the 4.00 X 2 toll, we only fill up when we go over for a shopping excursion....
Mike Posted March 15, 2008 Author Report Posted March 15, 2008 I can't wait to here about the record earnings for the oil companies again. I just love those press releases, gives me warm fuzzies all over to know I just helped pay off another sheik's yacht!!
Levis Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 you've never been to the southwest United States and experienced the freeway system, have you? No, but I HAVE been in Delhi and experienced 2 million cars in one city and close to nil (usable) public transport.
Mars88 Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 The price here is $1.16 per liter and we have NO competition - one station goes up, and they all follow.
edna Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 1.55 u$s /litre. Or 1 €. Now diesel is more expensive...
RonJonSurfer Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I paid $2.97 for regular on Monday and $3.02 at the same station (the same pump) on Friday.
Kevin Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 $5.68 a gallon - so quit whining ! It's about time the US paid it's share ( or come up with a novel idea ) - being the largest consumer .
Uncle Joe Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 I paid $2.92 for regular on Saturday (a week ago). Today the price is $3.02at the same station in New Jersey.
c_s_1987 Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 I just don't understand why Americans still complain about their fuel prices, which are very, very cheap compared to the rest of the world. Fuel in Australia is about $5 American per gallon now. Which, in my opinion, is still too cheap.
