Shawna
Okay... time for an update. I've sent out feelers to the publicists for: Okkervil River, The Whigs, Animal Collective, and Sara Bareilles. So far. Still working on the list... Farin
yay let me guess: no answer yet from the ones you already contacted?
Shawna
unfortunately not. Sometimes they're just too busy to do interviews, sometimes messages/e-mails get lost in the shuffle. But I never give up hope! If I don't get a reponse in a reasonable time period, I will follow up...

invisible_r
band of horses are great, I was going to write about them in "get the word out", sometimes a little too country though I assume they have to be American? How about Devendra Banhart, he's been around for a few years though. Or the Gossip, maybe too big?
blind-fitter
I'm really enjoying THE BROKEN FAMILY BAND recently. Some music clips: "You're Like A Woman" "It's All Over" "The Booze And The Drugs" "Leaps" "Love Your Man, Love Your Woman" And, for more information: The Broken Family Band's website The Broken Family Band on myspace , with more music, naturally. Shawna
Shot down by Colbie Caillat's rep. At least she got back to me! Rachel - yes, Band of Horses is American. If I remember correctly, they're from North Carolina originally. Thanks for the other suggestions! I'm adding them to the list...
invisible_r
yeah, they are from north carolina. I was just trying to clarify whether the bands nominated had to be american.
Shawna
Oh! Not necessarily, no. But English is the only language I speak, so keep that in mind.

Shawna
I'm really enjoying THE BROKEN FAMILY BAND recently. B-F, thank you for this! These guys are fabulous! I went in and listened to all the songs you posted (finally!) and sent them a request for interview. One of the links on their contact page is dead, so I sent my request to another, and hopefully will hear back soon. This would be a fun one. Shawna
BF, you'll be happy to know that Steve got back to me and says "Never turn down an interview, it saves money on therapy." So we're arranging something for next week. I have to figure out time zones...
Farin
very cool and a smart guy too currently it's 4:04pm in the UK
Shawna
so you are 8 hours ahead of me... that gives me a good clue. At least I know I won't have to wake up at 1 a.m. to catch him by 11 a.m. or so. That's a relief. These artistic types always seem to want to talk to me around noon their time. Do you need any help finding stuff to ask them about or do you usually manage that sort of thing on your own?
Shawna
If you have any questions about their songs, I'm happy to take requests! It's typically well received when I tell an artist I've polled their fans and then ask questions directly from the fans. But keep the questions about the songs... nothing personal. Sometimes personal stuff comes up, but that's not what this site is about...
Lucky
This is exciting! I'll think up a couple of questions for you, I love these guys!
Farin
I'm suggesting Architecture In Helsinki interview logistics could be a bit complicated, since they're from Melbourne, Australia but I guess asking won't hurt

Shawna
Not yet! He sent me that e-mail, then I sent him a couple more to try and pin him down, and I never heard back. I'll give it another little while and then try again. I believe they were going into the studio to record another album...
Farin
*Bump* he's not up-and-coming by any means, but how about trying to get an interview with Badly Drawn Boy (aka Damon Gough)? I don't really expect this to lead anywhere, but on the other hand I read that he likes to tell stories at his concerts, so who knows
Shawna
I have heard of him and read about him... it's definitely worth a shot. Will aim my arrow and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion!
Udo
Sia Furler--"Breathe Me" and a few others have received recognition. She participates on her website (siamusic.net) Also Stephanie's Id (as mentioned in a previous thread about the song "Cold Cold"). I'd guess hitting them up on their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/stephaniesid.
