  1. I think the question should be where is Ronnie James Dio? or WHo is Augie Rios?
  2. That would be the only Hallelujah by a Jeff that I know, It was also featured on the West Wing when Mark Harmon was shot in the robbery.
  3. How about Goth, reggae, Metal Rap, Bluegrass, Fusion, big band and swing, whatever genre you can call the polyphonic spree or whatever they call themselves - and speaking of ungenred music how would you classify Blue Man Group, is Lilith fair a genre? What do you call artists like Sinatra or Harry Connick Jr.? Can Frank Zappa be classified?
  4. I'm not at all upset when I hear an old favorite on a commercial of some sort - it makes me watch anyway - but it also exposes the kiddies to some classic tunes, and sometimes even some rather obscure artists get a little airtime. None of my kids had ever heard of Nick Drake till someone used Pink Moon in a car commercial. (Now see - I remember the song but not the product - so the ad agency's ploy is not working). But then I try to look at the glass as half full.
  5. my vote goes to physical grafitti
  6. The soundtrack is great - these are my other favorites: Trainspotting - no one's mentioned this one yet but it's one of the best ever. High Fidelity - velvet underground - need I say more? The Song Remains the Same - yeah! and any Tarantino movie.
  7. You sound like my son (who acts like I should be embarrassed by my love for all things DMB)- I will not be shamed - I love DMB and I don't care who knows it! Because I'm good enough, I'm smart enough and gosh darn it - other people love DMB too. He seems like a very nice boy and geeks are cool.
  8. You're right Batman - but I've seen Stevie Ray Vaughn in this section - and I guess he was new to me way back sometime - I'm gonna recommend Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd too.
  9. I think you must be from an alternate universe - do you all have a different definition of "better" than we have? also - thought of a couple more: QOTSA - queens of the stoneage AYWKUBTTOD - and you will know us by the trail of dead
  10. The Best Rock Love Songs according to ME Thank you - Led Zeppelin (Page/Plant) If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me. Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more. Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by. My love is strong, with you there is no wrong, together we shall go until we die. My, my, my. An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see. And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles, Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one. Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad. If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you. When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me. ********************************************************* What is and what should never be - also by LZ She Talks to Angels - Black Crows Rock you like a Hurricane - Scorpions
  11. Who has the best repetoire - that would be DMB :guitar: CCR is in the running as are STP.
  12. WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? Being one of the most underrated bands on the planet does not make one a one hit wonder - a one hit wonder by definition (IMO - not necessarily VH1's) would have to be a band/songwriter or whatever that had only the one "hit" in his arsenal and could never churn out another comparable song - a one hit wonder does not influence generations of other musicians. Thin Lizzy definitely does not fit the definition . Oh - to get back to the original question - I think my favorite one hit wonder is Radar Love by golden earring (though technically they are 2 hit wonders) - twilight zone in the 80's - but I also love the previously mentioned Groove is in the heart and the Blind Melon song, and the not mentioned Take on Me - AHa, and You Get what you give - New Radicals - ooh and Relax by Frankie goes to Hollywood. ::
  13. I think Buckley's voice is best on Halleluja and I love Freddie Mercury's voice, also Robert Plant and Paul Rogers and Elvis Presley - Roger Waters' voice I think is really haunting. Can't forget Thom Yorke, Maynard James Keenan and Layne Staley and Scott Weiland , oh and of course Kurt Cobaine.
  14. I quite agree with you - but I really had a hard time choosing between revolver and rubber soul.

  22. I know I'm late to this discussion - but I just bought the cd last week and I haven't took it out of the player yet. These guys are the best rockers since audioslave! Anyone who hasn't checked them out yet is really missing out. They are definitely greater than the sum of their parts - ie: GNR and STP. (not knocking STP)
