  1. '80's stuff: Safety Dance - Men Without Hats Video Killed the Radio Star - The Buggles Me, Myself and I - De La Soul Mexican Radio - Wall of Voodoo '90's (since I've been watching "I Love the '90's on VH1): Groove is in the Heart - DeeeLite You Only Get What You Give - New Radicals Stay - Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories No Rain - Blind Melon Send Me on My Way - Rusted Root Cannonball - The Breeders What's Up? - 4 Non Blondes Cantaloop - Us 3 I Touch Myself - Divinyls
  2. You know, I really miss those Spice Girls..wish they would make a comeback!!!
  3. The last song "What Made Her Broke Her" had a little Pretenders feel to it. The samples were a little short, but they sounded interesting. If "Lillith Fair" started up again, she would be perfect for it.
  4. Maybe Justin Timerlake's "Like I Love You". It has a small acoustic guitar part at the beginning and repeating throughout. Since you said it was Top 40 and fairly recent, that' my guess Otherwise, without any lyrics, don't know
  5. Do you mean the song "I Don't Want you back" by Eamon? I wo't post the lyrics, because I'd have to do too much editing!!! I forgot who sings the reply. I'll look it up for you.
  6. Where all think alike, no one thinks at all Some people spread happiness wherever they go, others whenever they go No one can make you feel inferior without your permission - Eleanor Roosevelt
  7. How about this one by 98 degrees (late '90's boy band which had Nick Lachey in it) One Night (Una Noche) Your lips keep tellin' me you want me Hold me close all through the night And I know deep inside you need me And no one else can make it right Don't you try to hide your secrets I can see it in your eyes You said the words without speaking Now I'm gonna make you mine Chorus: Give me just one night, una noche A moment to be by your side Give me just one night, una noche I'll give you the time of your life The time of your life Oh baby yeah Your eyes of passion make me crazy Your existence makes me wild I want to loosen up your feelings See what's hiding inside Chorus Time of your life ooh yeh ooh baby Ay, que rico Oh, how good Me pone loca You make me crazy Como te mueve How you move Como me toca How you touch me Tu movimiento Your movement Tu sentimiento Your feeling Si, yo te quiero Yes, I love you Te doy la noche I'll give you the night Toda la noche All night long Ay, vamos Let's go Give me just one night Give me one night baby A moment to be by your side Give me just one night oh baby I'll give you the time of your life (chorus x 2) The time of your life The time of your life
  8. That was one of my favorite songs when it came out. I used to sing it all the time. Thanks for the great memory!!! Sorry to get off topic, but I had to comment.
  9. Thanks...I must be out of my head today!
  10. I looked all over this forum to see if you'd already answered this question and I couldn't find anything, so if this has already been asked, sorry: Is there a place where we can see how many posts are assigned to each ranking? I'm just curious because in a short time I jumped from tadpole to frog (no pun intended). I personally believe in quality over quantity, so I'm not going to post just to boost my ranking, I just want to know if that information is available.
  11. My guesses: Rock You Like a Hurricane - Scorpions You Shook Me All Night Long - AC/DC
  12. I think it was GMA that I heard that he really hated Hollywood and acting. He only acted when he needed money. Coppola had to beg the studio to let him hire Brando for "The Godfather" because his reputation was so bad by then.... He also started a trend. When he rips open (or off) his shirt in "Streetcar", revealing no T-shirt, men started wearing their shirts without a T shirt underneath. I loved him in Guys & Dolls RIP, Marlon
  13. That happens to me too, with the dance ones and with the Totally Hits ones. The worst one was in the late '80's with this commercial with two hippies: "Is that Freedom Rock, man?" "Yeah, man" "Well, turn it up, man!!"
  14. CCR, ZZTop, the Doors, Journey and U2 are bands whose songs I can pick up quite quickly. Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Michael Stipe and Tom Petty all have very distinctive voices. For newer music,I think Pat Monahan from Train has a distinctive voice, as well as Melissa Etheridge and Sheryl Crow
  15. Actually, "Lovely Day" doesn't bother me as much. Don't know why, maybe it just doesn't sound as monotonous to me. I know that the "I knows" were done for impact, but I still find them distracting. Different strokes....
  16. I voted for Star Wars..the original one. Probably because out of all the ones listed, it was the first one I saw and had an impact on me. The new ones don't have that "magic" for me. I could barely sit through the 2nd Matrix, so I was soured for the 3rd. I know, people say "what about the car chase, what about the 100 smiths?", but neither of those scenes compensated for the rest of the boooring movie
  17. There's no one song, but on my honeymoon we went on a tour of Volcanoes Park in Hawaii and that whole day I had "Walking on the Moon" stuck in my head. Most recently, I had the song "Rock your Body" stuck in my head for weeks!
  18. I agree with Muzik on the repetition thing....that song "Ain't No Sunshine When She Goes" has a long part in the middle where the words "I know" are repeated soooooo many times. It distracts from the rhythm of the song. Also, at the end of "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel, they have that chanting...annoying! and that voice is very grating. The song is better without the ending.
  19. Crash into me Too Much What Would you say So Much to say Ants Marching
  20. The Rolling Stones ZZ Top Lynryd Skynyrd None particularly hard, but all good "classic" rockers

    Worst film?

Event Horizon. It looked promising, with a good cast (Sam Neill, Sam L. Jackson), but the story sucked and it had a disgusting ending to boot!
  22. I did a search on those lyrics and thought about it some more, but all I could come up with was this song: Baby Come To Me - Patty Austin and James Ingram Thinkin' back in time when love was only in my mind I realize.. Ain't no second chance, you got to hold on to romance Don't let it slide There's a special kind of magic in the air When you find another heart that needs to share CHORUS: Baby, come to me, let me put my arms around you This was meant to be and I'm oh so glad I found you Need you everyday got to have your love around me Baby always stay, 'cause I can't go back to livin' without you Spendin' every dime to keep you talkin' on the line That's how it was And all those walks together out in any kind of weather Just because There's a brand new way of looking at your life When you know that love is standing by your side CHORUS The night can be cold There's a chill to every evening when you're all alone Don't talk anymore 'Cause you know that I'll be here to keep you warm CHORUS If this one isn't it, I have another guess, it's "Waiting For a Star to Fall" by Boy Meets Girl but I'll have to go back and get the full lyrics for that one, here's the chorus Waiting for a star to fall Carry your heart into my arms That's where you belong In my arms, baby, yeah
  23. If you're a Seinfeld fan...remember the episode where George has that song stuck in his head and goes around singing it out loud? He ended up eating dinner with Elaine's father and at the end, Elaine's father is in a cab singing that song.
  24. I wonder what appeal Hasselhoff had there...or anywhere for that matter. I liked him in Knight Rider (then again, I was 12 or so)but after that....yech! Travolta was good in "Basic" too
  25. recent? What genre (rock, country)? I did a search but really couldn't come up with anything that matched exactly what you wrote
