Floydaholic Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 A can of Coke, is that really such a good idea of mine, just a while before I go to bed?
pinkstones Posted August 12, 2009 Report Posted August 12, 2009 One of those Hormel Compleats meals - Salisbury Steak and some peas with a Diet Coke.
Shawna Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Tonight for dinner I'm making herb-crusted marinated flank steak, along with deviled eggs, noodles, and cantaloupe sides. Yum. And oh yeah, I hate licorice. But I love root beer. Go figure.
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 had a handful of fennel last night, tastes just like licorice. Love fennel, loathe licorice. It might be a texture thing - like candy shouldn't taste of fennel.
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Coffee with a splash of milk and just one sugar. My Indianness is leaving me?
Farin Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 had a handful of fennel last night, tastes just like licorice. Love fennel, loathe licorice. It might be a texture thing - like candy shouldn't taste of fennel. how do you feel about anise btw?
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 I'm not really sure what anise tastes like - I've never eaten it plain, always as a part of a meal or a masala
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 oh wait - I googled and anise apparently translates to 'little fennel' in hindi, so I'm guessing my feelings towards it are not unlike those towards fennel
Farin Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) I know it eg from liquors, like Ouzo... and it always strongly reminds me of licorice Edit: or Sambuca Edited August 13, 2009 by Guest
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Sambuca? Never had it or any other anise flavoured liquour. Now see - anise tastes like fennel from what I've gathered in my online wanderings so, apart from the squishy licorice form, I'm quite a fan of the flavour when it's packaged as a seed. And sprinkled with sugar
MarcM Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 float some sambuca on top of some bailey in a shot glass. good stuff.
Levis Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 I couldn't take it anymore. Green tea with 2 sugars. In my defense, it's raw sugar ok - still healthy!
pinkstones Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Just finished my dinner - fried potatoes with onions and tomatoes. Now I'm drinking a Diet Coke.
MindCrime Posted August 14, 2009 Report Posted August 14, 2009 All? I think there's only one I saw somebody else say the same thing after you did
