Brad_M Posted April 30, 2013 Report Posted April 30, 2013 What's "Way Down" or "Pledging My Love"? "Way Down" is correct, Edna. The song cracked the U.S. Hot 100 Top 40 on 7/16/77, eventually peaking at #18. Presley died on 8/16/1977.
edna Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 This musician/producer was a member of the Rolling Thunder Revue.
edna Posted May 8, 2013 Report Posted May 8, 2013 No, he played guitar. He's also produced Roy Orbison, John Mellencamp and Elvis Costello among others.
edna Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 No, no, this one is american. His name is Joseph Henry ---?--- but has taken the a.k.a. from a guitar player from Texas.
edna Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Yes!!! Zab, you're right again and it's your turn again...
Zabadak Posted May 13, 2013 Report Posted May 13, 2013 Running out of facts, here! OK - hope I haven't asked this before (as I have a habit of doing that!) This John Barry tune was the theme to the only X-Certificate film to win the Best Picture Oscar...
Zabadak Posted May 14, 2013 Report Posted May 14, 2013 We have a winner, come on down! I'm walkin' here! I'm walkin' here! :sing1:
piston broke Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Hey Edna :cuttie: This band took their name from a caption in a Marvel comic. Hint - they came from Liverpool, late '70s. Step forward and claim your Reward.
piston broke Posted May 26, 2013 Report Posted May 26, 2013 Bazinga! 100% correct - top of the class for you.
edna Posted May 28, 2013 Report Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) At 17, the band he started had a huge hit, beaten by "Yesteday" (Beatles) later on the charts. Edited May 28, 2013 by Guest
Zabadak Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Again, not sure if I've done this one before nore not... This UK act has had 3 UK #1 singles with 3 different lead singers...
edna Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Who are Three Dog Night? (though the #1s were in the US, so I might be wrong...)
Brad_M Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah, Three Dog Night have never had a #1 U.K. hit. They're also not a U.K. act, they're from the U.S.
MindCrime Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 I can think of a few UK bands who've had 3 different singers (Bad Company, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath) but none of them ever had a #1 song let alone 3 of them.
Brad_M Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Again, not sure if I've done this one before nore not... This UK act has had 3 UK #1 singles with 3 different lead singers... The way you worded the question makes me think the group changed lead singers throughout their history and they scored #1 singles each time with their new singer. But, the neener you placed after your question makes me think you could mean something different. I would think differently if the question was worded as: This UK act has had 3 UK #1 singles with 3 different members as the lead singer for each one. To avoid confusion, which one is it?
