Levis
Thank you for shattering my ego... I will go look for a broom now. Oh, but I must add that the 'thread' part was Steel2Velvet's idea... I just used the word 'campaign' because I did Political Science 3 years ago. Uncle Joe
Rad-ji. You misunderstand me. I was using the collective "you". Campaigning to tell someone what their favorite should be? Rubbish. Why, we all know it should be "In My Life". Close the polls. The vote is in.

OLD 55
SORRY JOE HERE'S A BEATLE KILLER. Also I'll be voting for 'Day Tripper' ahead of 'In My Life'. Love that opening riff. Aren't there some wonderful songs listed ? Really, my #1 Pick of the lot is Del Shannon's Runaway, but realistically I know the youngsters won't vote for it. Paint It Black was a great choice for the 'Theme Song' of the late 80s/early 90s? TV Series "Tour Of Duty". It was always one of my favorite Stones' songs before that of course. Gimme Shelter will poll well too ! VOTE

edna
Judo, I won´t send you "In my life" mp3 by e-mail cause I know you know the song... but in case you want it, I have it... "In my life" - THE BEATLES
Judo
Hi Edna, I am a great fan of the Beatles, but dont have very many of their recordings on CD. The bulk of it is on musicassettes which are attracting fungus in my home town. Yes, I do have "In My Life" and it will get my vote. Voting is gonna be tough. I try listening to 30 second clip samples of unknown songs available at cduniverse.com whenever I can steal time at my boss's laptop. These occasions however are few and far between, besides 30 seconds are just not good enough to appreciate a new song. Sometimes the lyrics start way past 30 seconds into the song. katie_sane
VOTE ONE - LAYLA BY DEREK & THE DOMINOS The origins of Layla "There are few moments in the repertoire of recorded rock where a singer or writer has reached so deeply into himself that the effect of hearing them is akin to witnessing a murder, or a suicide... to me, 'Layla' is the greatest of them." ~ Dave Marsh, Rolling Stone This is an insanely beautiful and passionate song about unrequited love written by Eric Clapton and inspired by George Harrison's first wife, Patti Boyd. This song also contains the greatest guitar riff in rock history. Layla on YouTube Layla What'll you do when you get lonely And nobody's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride. Layla, you've got me on my knees. Layla, I'm begging, darling please. Layla, darling won't you ease my worried mind. I tried to give you consolation When your old man had let you down. Like a fool, I fell in love with you, Turned my whole world upside down. Let's make the best of the situation Before I finally go insane. Please don't say we'll never find a way And tell me all my love's in vain. Jenny
There are so many songs that I like on here, and I can't say I like one over all the others....this is going to be a very difficult Top Ten! Anyway, I came on this thread, so I should campaign for something....Ain't Too Proud To Beg! Cast a vote for Motown! David Ruffin has one of the best voices in music--raspy and soulful. Remember, Ain't Too Proud To Beg when you cast your votes!
