Farin
I said "this time"... I posted one or two of my translations here already, and I made offers to do others (see "Guten Tag" above)... of course I'm not gonna do it, if nobody's gonna read them... Farin
but just for you... Good Day", but it's used differently (not as formal). The more accurate translation would be "Good Afternoon" My voice against your mobile phone, My fists against your manicure lotion, My teeth against those of Dr. Best and his son, My soul against you soft epilation It was in the sellout, the bargain-sale, the selling-off "Swapping stupid old life for the new version" I just tried it at home And I already knew The product must be broken This is the reclamation I want I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) Good Afternoon I want my life back Good Afternoon, Good Afternoon I want my life back Good afternoon, Good Afternoon i want my life back Good Afternoon, I admit in the beginning I was delighted But your life tweaks and pinches, only not when you bend down My voice against the whole talkshow-nation My fists for a tired "Hallelujah" and beans My teeth against you're tame revolution Visions against the whole television It was in the sellout, the bargain-sale, the selling-off "Swapping stupid old life for the new version" I just tried it at home And I already knew The product must be broken This is the reclamation I want I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back) Good Afternoon I want my life back Good Afternoon, Good Afternoon I want my life back Good afternoon, Good Afternoon i want my life back Good Afternoon, I admit in the beginning I was delighted But your life tweaks and pinches, only not when you bend down

Uncle Joe
I always thought that Lio was either a 2 or 3 girl group. Next up: Banana Split
edna
Lio is French from Belgium/Portuguese origin. She said somewhere that she was much too young to understand the lyrics of "Banana Split" ... otherwise she would have never sung it. Just like France Gall with "Les Sucettes"... Here´s another one: "Les brunes comptent pas pour des prunes" - Lio

blind-fitter
I once nominated this for a Songfacts Top 10. It failed to chart, apparently on account that the artist/song wasn't sufficiently well-known on a world-wide scale. Shame! It would appear from viewer comments that it did make the leap across the Atlantic, but perhaps only achieved "cult status". Any of you remember this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvErh74r-5Q

Farin
^^b-f, do you know who she reminds me of? the original, the one and only Nina Hagen ~ "Ziggy Stardust"
blind-fitter
Oh, I've seen that Nina Hagen doing Ziggy before. It's rather comical, isn't it? Lene Lovich and Nina Hagen were friends and collaborators. They do have certain stylistic similarities. I suppose the big difference between them was that Lene Lovich could sing a decent, catchy pop-single without scaring everyone away....
The Seeker
I was just waiting for that thing in her hair to fall off. You know, actually that wasn't bad at all.
Farin
she's rather comical, period... but I beg to differ, Nina Hagen had a massiv hit with a pop single in the 70's, which is considered "cult" today Du hast den Farbfilm vergessen ("you forgot the colour film")
