Song/Video of the day

Recommended Posts

I said "this time"... ;)

I posted one or two of my translations here already, and I made offers to do others (see "Guten Tag" above)... of course I'm not gonna do it, if nobody's gonna read them...

but just for you...

Guten Tag - Wir sind Helden

Meine Stimme gegen dein Mobiltelefon

Meine Fäuste gegen eure Nagelpflegelotion

Meine Zähne gegen die von Doktor Best und seinem Sohn

Meine Seele gegen eure sanfte Epilation

Es war im Ausverkauf im Angebot die Sonderaktion

Tausche blödes altes Leben gegen neue Version

Ich hatte es kaum zu Hause ausprobiert da wusste ich schon

an dem Produkt ist was kaputt-das ist die Reklamation

Ich will

Ich tausch nicht mehr ich will mein Leben zurück

Guten Tag ich gebe zu ich war am Anfang entzückt

aber euer Leben zwickt und drückt nur dann nicht

wenn man sich bückt -

Guten Tag

Meine Stimme gegen die der ganzen Talkshownation

Meine Fäuste für ein müdes Halleluja und Bohnen

Meine Zähne gegen eure zahme Revolution

Visionen gegen die totale Television

Es war im Ausverkauf im Angebot die Sonderaktion

Tausche blödes altes Leben gegen neue Version

Ich hatte es kaum zu Hause ausprobiert da wusste ich schon

an dem Produkt ist was kaputt-das ist die Reklamation

Guten Tag guten Tag ich will mein Leben zurück

Guten Tag guten Tag ich will mein Leben zurück

Guten Tag guten Tag ich will mein Leben zurück

Ich tausch nicht mehr ich will mein Leben zurück

Guten Tag ich gebe zu ich war am Anfang entzückt

aber euer Leben zwickt und drückt nur dann nicht

wenn man sich bückt -

Guten Tag

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Guten Tag" means literal "Good Day", but it's used differently (not as formal). The more accurate translation would be "Good Afternoon"
My voice against your mobile phone,
My fists against your manicure lotion,
My teeth against those of Dr. Best and his son,
My soul against you soft epilation
It was in the sellout, the bargain-sale, the selling-off
"Swapping stupid old life for the new version"
I just tried it at home
And I already knew
The product must be broken
This is the reclamation
I want
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
Good Afternoon
I want my life back
Good Afternoon, Good Afternoon I want my life back
Good afternoon, Good Afternoon i want my life back
Good Afternoon,
I admit in the beginning I was delighted
But your life tweaks and pinches, only not when you bend down
My voice against the whole talkshow-nation
My fists for a tired "Hallelujah" and beans
My teeth against you're tame revolution
Visions against the whole television
It was in the sellout, the bargain-sale, the selling-off
"Swapping stupid old life for the new version"
I just tried it at home
And I already knew
The product must be broken
This is the reclamation
I want
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
I don't wanna swap again (I want my life back)
Good Afternoon
I want my life back
Good Afternoon, Good Afternoon I want my life back
Good afternoon, Good Afternoon i want my life back
Good Afternoon,
I admit in the beginning I was delighted
But your life tweaks and pinches, only not when you bend down
I once nominated this for a Songfacts Top 10. It failed to chart, apparently on account that the artist/song wasn't sufficiently well-known on a world-wide scale. Shame! It would appear from viewer comments that it did make the leap across the Atlantic, but perhaps only achieved "cult status". Any of you remember this?
Oh, I've seen that Nina Hagen doing Ziggy before. It's rather comical, isn't it?
Lene Lovich and Nina Hagen were friends and collaborators. They do have certain stylistic similarities. I suppose the big difference between them was that Lene Lovich could sing a decent, catchy pop-single without scaring everyone away....
