edna
Well, at least they voted "Transformer", Lou Reed...
invisible_r
actually, it was quite funny to hear what other artists like. for example, did you know ozzy really likes the "nevermind the bollocks" and "dark side of the moon"? that michael stipe was friends with kurt cobain? and slash likes the beatles and radiohead! so here's what i'm planning to buy based on that list: ~ The Beatles; Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band ~ The Beatles; Revolver ~ REM; Automatic for the People ~the Beatles; White Album ~ Led Zeppelin; Led Zeppelin IV ~ Bruce Springsteen; Born to Run ~ Air; Moon Safari ~ Love; Forever Changes ~ Nick Drake:Five Leaves Left

johnnyguitar
Good to see Nick Drake in there (he must have been dead 25 years...more like 30)... the album listed is equisite...as are both his other albums.
invisible_r
i always found him quite interesting, and the samples of his music that i heard in the program were quite good. so seeing as this album is very cheap anyway, i thought i should buy it

Addictedtoclassic
... and not a single Lynyrd Skynyrd album on the whole list...
invisible_r
I don't think lynyrd skynyrd ever were/are popular in the uk
Addictedtoclassic
Actually, in the mid-70's they drew quite a crowd in the UK and a couple other areas in Europe. But I doubt they have much of a fan base out there anymore.
_jr_
I own 23 of them. A few I've never heard of.
Addictedtoclassic
I own 10 off that list. But I have several "greatest hits" for artists that appear on the list as well. It's quite a varying list.
invisible_r
i own 18 of them, and of course i own the number 1! and like aaron, i have some greatest hits of some of the other artists.,
Earth-Angel
I own 33 and all of them I would totally agree with making the list, of course
edna
I have 39 but I had some more which must have been swallowed by the black hole. Adict, you´re right, I remember when I came to Spain thirty years ago, Lynyrd Skynnyrd were quite popular (not that much in France though...) their main group of fans is among the heavy metal fans... don´t ask me why... ::
invisible_r
there was a cool quote in the program, i think it was johnny marr or noel galagher, it was along the lines of-maybe only 60 people bought "the velvet underground", but those 60 people went on to form great bands! Jenny
I only own or have owned about 16 of them. Sad, sad, sad. I should get shopping!!

Adict, you´re right, I remember when I came to Spain thirty years ago, Lynyrd Skynnyrd were quite popular (not that much in France though...) their main group of fans is among the heavy metal fans... don´t ask me why... :: Well, some of their music is good hard rock music, but nothing you can bang your head to. I think maybe the heavy metal fans just didn't have enough to choose from as the genre was still pretty fresh during those years. I would think they would follow Led Zeppelin more than Lynyrd Skynyrd.
edna
Funny thing, heavy metal fans didn´t like Led Zeppelin that much in Spain... must be LZ weren´t THAT heavy for them... while Lynyrd Snynyrd had all the far west legend (I talk about Spain...) and were less "classy", let´s say, than LZ... LZ were somehow the "crème de la crème"... it was funny for me discovering how they had mixed knowledge and feelings about music...
Addictedtoclassic
Yeah, Skynyrd was FAR from classy. Especially when you look at the backgrounds they had from growing up where they did. I think (pronounced leh-nerd skin-nerd) deserves to be on the list! ::
edna
You bet it does...! Lists... tss...!
miamisammy29
I think Skynyrd's first and second albums should be on the list.
johnnyguitar
I've got 38 of them but within that 38 are several that I've got but don't actually like. I wouldn't pee on Coldplay if they were on fire, Oasis are wildly over rated and I can't believe the Strokes crawled in (Tom Petty must be livid.) I had 'Pronounced Leh-nard Skeh-nard' and thought it was pretty cool....but now Freebird drives me mad. Personally I think all four of Zeps first albums were contenders, especially Zep 2 (although my favourite is Zep 1) Lizzy...Live and Dangerous would've been in there if I'd done the list. All good fun though....opinions, opinions... ::
invisible_r
i agree about coldplay, i wasn't that shocked with the strokes, more surprised with the libertines because they are quite high as well!
Earth-Angel
I love Coldplay's Parachutes. Faultless IMHO.
