Ombre Vivante Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I don't let the personal side of musicians lives dictate whether or not I like or listen to their music. I won't stop loving John's music because he wasn't the greatest Dad or husband. I just can't get past those facts. I know that one should separate the art from the artist, and it's not as if I eliminated john's work from my collection. At the same time, the honesty of his message is gone. It's now boiled down to just liking the songs for what they sound like, not because I admire the ideas behind them.
TheLizard Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 Paul is cool, Lennon was a genius. Genius trumps cool.
katie_sane Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 I love them both, but since I have to choose, it's John Lennon for me.
pony slaystation Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 I prefer McCartney. He wrote all of my favourite Beatles songs and the vast majority of the ones I listen to.
Kevin Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Lenin . Trotsky or Stalin ? ( The thread with the topic that never seems to end ... )
CRAW Posted February 7, 2007 Report Posted February 7, 2007 Just stumbled across this thread. McCartney was a far better musician in my opinion.
Super Ry 71 Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Yeah, I prefer McCartney solo more than Lennon solo, but John wrote some good songs...
MuzikTyme Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Lennon or McCartney? What a hard question to answer. (I love it) It's kinda like asking if you prefer air to water. Both are great, as well as needed! How could either of them been as talented as they were without the profound influences of each? Hmmm?
johnny Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 All of the Beatles... ...except Ringo...
TheLizard Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I still stand by the assertion that the Beatles are not and would not have been THE Beatles without Ringo.
johnny Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 How is he an essential part of the 'Fab Four'? He is the luckiest person in history...
MuzikTyme Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 I still stand by the assertion that the Beatles are not and would not have been THE Beatles without Ringo. I'll second that!
Lea Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 (edited) and I'll third it!!! and forth it and fifth it if necessary!!! Edited November 10, 2007 by Guest
MuzikTyme Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Make it a fifth of Maker's Mark and we're on! Or Beethoven, as it were.
Lea Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Make it a fifth of Maker's Mark and we're on! Or Beethoven, as it were. What is Maker's Mark?
MuzikTyme Posted November 10, 2007 Report Posted November 10, 2007 Oh, just my favourite whisky . . .
chinchu Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 The hell with Lennon or McCartney... Harrison!!!
Super Ry 71 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Whose idea was it to pour candle wax on top...Imean, ya can't get ta it naow! Or is it part of the packaging? 'Cause then I'd say it's genius. And colourful.
