Batman Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Who are some of your favorite drummers? For me, they are John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, and Dave Grohl of Nirvana. :drummer:
Mike Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 Neil Peart - Rush Two sticks straight up!! Best solo ever is YYZ from Exit... Stage Left!
black parrot Posted April 9, 2004 Report Posted April 9, 2004 I have to agree that neil peart is the best drummer. For me he is Rush.
Catherine Posted April 10, 2004 Report Posted April 10, 2004 1. Neil Peart...of course 2. John Bonham 3. Ian Paice 4. Joey Kramer 5. Sib Hashian
_Jayson_ Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Yep I have to agree with everybody. John Bonham and Neil Peart are the two best IMO.
_Jayson_ Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I love how Buddy Miles plays drums and sings at the same time. (played with Jimi Hendrix)
Malakin Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Bonham helped create a great sound with Zeppelin, no denying that, but he would've gone nowhere if it weren't for Keith Moon's influence. Neil Peart is very fast, and very technically flawless, but I just end up bored by him most times.. I prefer Manu Katche, who drums for Peter Gabriel, and Ian Mosely of Marillion when I want to listen to good percussion. I'm not a big fan of just fast and tight, I'd rather listen to a darn good beat with a good amount of flair and ghosted notes...
Mike Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 An honorable mention for Buddy Rich. No doubt! He is the greatest jazz drummer in history!! When I first saw him on the Tonight Show (circa 1979) I sat there with my jaw hangin' wide open!!
MuzikTyme Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Was wondering if you or anyone has seen Burning for Buddy? A collaboration by some of the greatest drummers as a tribute for Rich. It was organized by Neil Peart, probably one of Rich's biggest fans.
thezeppelingirl Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 bonham, definatly. listen to moby dick and you're sold
JAm3z Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 lars ulrich- metallica dave grohl- nirvana john dollymain- system of a down joey jordson(or wateva his name is)- slipknot
Gavin Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 DALE CROVER of the Melvins. He's amazing for being able to stay in sync with Buzz Osbourne's off-beat rythyms. *Also if you live anywhere near Baltimore, MD, check out the drummer for The Medications. I don't know his name, but he's an amazing preformer with tons of energy.*
bparker1188 Posted May 1, 2004 Report Posted May 1, 2004 Ulrich from Metallice and Beauford from Dave Matthews Band
hegovinda Posted May 2, 2004 Report Posted May 2, 2004 your crazy, bonham will never be remembered as a drummmer. he complements but doesnt explore. danny carey is the most influential and complementary drummer that explores to an infinite expense. listen to tool and it will all come together.
husker16 Posted May 3, 2004 Report Posted May 3, 2004 I cannot believe no one has mentioned Keith Moon from The Who. Along with Bohnam, they are the best
Dolmayan87 Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), John Dolmayan (System of a Down), Terry Bozzio, Travis Barker (Blink 182), Dave Weckel, John Theodore (The Mars Volta), Dennis Chambers, Gene Krupa, Dave Grohl (Nirvana), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Joey Jordison (Slipknot) and Lars Ulrich (Metallica)... That's it!!
Guest Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 I've begun to really like Don Alias. Joey Castillo (QOTSA) and Rick McMurray (Ash) are worth a mention too. I'm really happy someone else mentioned The Mars Volta's drummer- he is brilliant on occasions. What about Mick Fleetwood?
cindy17838 Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 #1 Neil Peart in bold because everyone else is really an also-ran behind him. #2 Stewart Copeland three others John Bohnam Alex Van Halen Tommy Lee
beatleant Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Ian Paice (Deep Purple) Tim 'Herb' Alexander (Primus) Lee Kerslake (Uriah Heep, Ozzy) Darrell Sweet (Nazareth) to name a few. Ant
