rkfan413
Ok, I hope I don't sound totally ignorant, but is Michael Stipe of REM gay?? After watching quite a few of their videos I just couldn't help but wonder.....
MindCrime
Scott has made it be known that he is the resident REM knowing one, but even I can tell you, the answer is not completely, I guess he's bi-sexual, as he had a fling with Courtney Love back in the late 90's. scott
Actually there's never been an 'official' statement on his sexuality, and the only answer he's ever given was on a radio interview in which he said that he was 'Straight, queer and bi' (a perfect example of a stipeism) and many people took that as his official 'coming' out, but it was actually a subtle nod towards the song 'King of Comedy' (from the 'Monster' album) Basically it's a common concensus that he's bisexual, but things are hard to tell when you're dealing with Stipe, because, well he's really ____in' weird! Though he has said (once again, this might be a 'Stipe' moment) that he has enjoyed relationships with both men and women.
scott
as he had a fling with Courtney Love back in the late 90's. It wasn't really a 'fling' he was just comforting her after Cobain's(as he and Stipe were very good friends) death (but then as Stipe grew closer to her, he jumped on the 'Courtney's evil' bandwagon with Dave Grohl)
Costellogirl75
Scott isn't the only R.E.M. knower amongst us. When Reveal came out, so did Michael, for the most part. He said he identifies himself as a "queer artist," but, given Michael's bent toward lyrical gymnastics, "queer artist" could mean anything. Earth-Angel
I read in a recent interview with him, that he doesn't want to be defined as straight/gay/bisexual, he is who he is as a person and as an artist.
XXX
In other words, he's gay ::
