Steel2Velvet Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 .. the three artists who sold over 100 million albums while a member of a group; and also 100 million later as a solo act?
edna Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) I guess Paul McCartney is among them. With the Beatles too. Phil Collins and Genesis too... Edited April 8, 2013 by Guest
Steel2Velvet Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 And the prize? A year's supply of groovy feelings and the admiration of your peers. Joe, at our age, the extra year alone might be worth the effort.
edna Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) ...so who's the third one, Ron? Edited April 8, 2013 by Guest
Shawna Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I know Fleetwood Mac has sold well over 100 million albums, and I thought maybe Stevie? Maybe she's not that popular...
Steel2Velvet Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 You folks are waaaaay too sharp to make this thread drag on very long with multiple guesses! :partytime1: :sing1: Paul, Phil and Michael are the correct musical artist answers.
_Laurie_ Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I figured Paul and Michael....would of never thought of Phil...
Steel2Velvet Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 I figured Paul and Michael....would of never thought of Phil... Probably because you figured it was against all odds ...
edna Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I figured Michael too... yet I wasn't sure about the J5.
Lucky Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 Probably because you figured it was against all odds ...
piston broke Posted April 9, 2013 Report Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Joe, at our age, the extra year alone might be worth the effort. Heh heh heh. I gave up smoking, drinking and amateur dramatics until I realised that I wasn't going to live any longer - but it would sure as hell feel longer :haveabeer: Edited April 9, 2013 by Guest
Carl Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 So has anyone sold 100 million as a solo artist and then later done it with a group?
pinkstones Posted April 10, 2013 Report Posted April 10, 2013 I'm pretty sure that's damn near impossible. Selling 100 million copies on your own, then joining a group and selling another 100 million copies? Don't think so.
Carl Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 I'm pretty sure that's damn near impossible. Probably, but let's lower the bar. How about someone who sold 10 million as a solo act, then sold another 10 mil as a member of a group?
TheLizard Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 Does anybody know how many records the Traveling Wilburys have sold? Maybe Dylan or Petty could meet that mark.
RockyRaccoon Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 This might be a stretch, but what about Joe Walsh? I know he was in James Gang first, but they only really had one big album and I wouldn't be surprised if he sold more as a solo artist and then a bunch with The Eagles
Steel2Velvet Posted April 11, 2013 Author Report Posted April 11, 2013 Does anybody know how many records the Traveling Wilburys have sold? Maybe Dylan or Petty could meet that mark. Great guess, Tim. Certainly Dylan, Harrison and Orbison have topped 10 mil record sales as soloists. Also The Three Tenors all meet the criteria as previous soloists; and I would guess the group is responsible of over 10 mil worldwide sales, as well.
piston broke Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 (edited) George Michael and Wham anyone. Or is that the wrong order? What about Sammy Hagar and Van Halen then? Or Jon and Vangelis? Edited April 11, 2013 by Guest
