Elvish Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 I ran across an interesting website while surfing. It's called Rocklopedia Fakebandica. It's an amazingly comprehensive list of "bands" that were made up for television or movies. Many I have never heard of (and possibly wouldn't want to). What are some of your favorites? A few of mine are the Electric Mayhem, the Blues Brothers, and Eddie and the Cruisers.
Elvish Posted September 3, 2004 Author Report Posted September 3, 2004 This one cracks me up: "Gaines, Chris - Country singer Garth Brooks almost ruins fake bands for everyone with an embarassing 1999 release by his "alter ego." Geez, if you wanna rock, just fricking rock, dude! You shouldn't have to hide behind a bad dye job and a jazz patch. Wuss."
superuninvited Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 They forgot a great one: "Slowfuck", my favorite german "Alternative Rock"-band ::. They performed in a stunning movie called "School´s Out" in 1997. Which means: they were on stage and made a playback performance of the Foo Fighter´s "Everlong".
_jr_ Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 super, I see you're new, so, please, try to use &^$ or other symbols where there is swearing.Thanks.
Uncle Joe Posted September 3, 2004 Report Posted September 3, 2004 Did anyone mention The Partridge Family? LOL
Elvish Posted September 3, 2004 Author Report Posted September 3, 2004 The Ruttles I completely forgot the Ruttles!! ::
Aunt_Acid Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Ick. You're a fan of the Backstreet boys
MindCrime Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 I don't know about the best, there was a rock group on some show during the 80's that I enjoyed, but I forget the name. For the absolute worst, this show called California Dreams that came on Saturday mornings, had the worst band I've ever heard, I couldn't stomach any of their songs.
XXX Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Backstreet is back ALRIGHT Okay, okay I'm surprised noone has mentioned Spinal Tap wtf?!!?
MindCrime Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 I'm surprised noone has mentioned Spinal Tap wtf?!!? I was thinking about them when I first read this thread, but then decided that they aren't a true fake band, since they did tour together & everything.
Jugband_Blues Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Blues Brothers, but im also not sure if Spinal Tap qualifies.
XXX Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Wyld Stallions! EXCELLENT *** Of course Spinal Tap qualifies. The film documents a fake band's fake tour Add Josie And The Pussycats! Damn! They were cute... for cartoon characters
Aunt_Acid Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 I would count Spinal Tap. Also, how about The Folksmen?
Costellogirl75 Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 Rod Torfulson's Armada Featuring Herman Menderchuck! Oh how I love The Kids In The Hall. My favorites are Leather and the Suedes and Josie and the Pussycats. But they left out Moop.
MindCrime Posted September 4, 2004 Report Posted September 4, 2004 What was the name of the song Wyld Stallions played at the end of the movie, the song escapes me.
