Lucky Posted December 29, 2011 Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 My second nomination missed the list (don't worry about it, I've done it more times than I can count), but that was mainly my fault, as it was sort of hidden. I'd like to give them their due though - Ashford & Simpson. Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson were a husband and wife songwriting/production team and recording artists. Married in 1974, until Ashford's death in 2011. Best known for writing and producing some of Motown's biggest hits, they are also responsible for a rock & roll mainstay that will surprise you - Some of their hits: Ain't No Mountain High Enough You're All I Need To Get By Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand) I'm Every Woman I'm Gonna Make You Love Me I Don't Need No Doctor (Very un-Motownish, it has oddly been recorded by a wide variety of artists including Ray Charles, Humble Pie, The Chocolate Watch Band, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Styx, W.A.S.P. , and Nomads) The duo was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2002.

I'd like to give them their due though - Ashford & Simpson. Crap! Sorry about that. I added them to the list. And there's still plenty of time if anyone wants to make a change to their votes!! If you can't edit your post, just let me know you want to make the change and I'll get it done for you.
Lucky Posted December 30, 2011 Author Report Posted December 30, 2011 No big deal at all Shawna really, but thank you, since you added them, I'll edit my votes.

Shawna Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 Interesting mix. The top couple garnered 41 more votes than the 10th place, and 59 more than the lowest-scoring, where the three rounding out the bottom of the list are only 1 point away from each other. The Songfactors' Choice Top Ten Musical Power Couples 1. Buckingham, Lindsey / Nicks, Stevie 61 2. Goffin, Gerry / King, Carole 57 3. Cash, Johnny / Carter Cash, June 55 4. McCartney, Paul / McCartney, Linda 46 5. Kantner, Paul / Slick, Grace 36 6. Taylor, James / Simon, Carly 36 7. Springsteen, Bruce / Scialfa, Patti 26 8. White, Jack / White, Meg 22 9. Sonny / Cher 21 10. Bryant, Boudleaux / Bryant, Felice 20 #6 and 7, Kantner/Slick and Springsteen/Scialfa, are a tie, but Kantner/Slick got more votes (more people voted for them) so they win by a nudge. (at least I hope that's how it's done... it is in this Top Ten!)
Shawna Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 and for the rest... The Songfactors' Choice Top Ten Musical Power Couples 1. Buckingham, Lindsey / Nicks, Stevie 61 2. MindCrime Posted January 3, 2012 Report Posted January 3, 2012 (more people voted for them) so they win by a nudge. (at least I hope that's how it's done... it is in this Top Ten!) If that's the case, then Deborah Harry / Chris Stein would've won the tie-breaker at #10, they received 4 votes, while the Bryants got 3.
Shawna Posted January 4, 2012 Report Posted January 4, 2012 You are so right! Thanks for finding that. Anyone that wants to double check these figures, feel free. It's been a very, very busy time for me and I wouldn't be surprised if someone finds something (else) that needs fixin'...
Shawna Posted January 5, 2012 Report Posted January 5, 2012 I just realized it's my nom at #1. First time... I like the view.
Lucky Posted January 6, 2012 Author Report Posted January 6, 2012 Good results, I like the list, can't complain with a thing! And I'm thankful that you got a #1 Shawna, since you did the work. Nice job, all the way around.
