Ike Turner is the only one who didn't appear on the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach.

and we have a winner

incidentally Ike Turner did appear in their previous album Demon Days, playing the awesome piano part of Every Planet We Reach Is Dead

I thought it might have something to do with Gorillaz originally when I saw Mick Jones, but thought that might be too specific to be it.

Yeah, I know. But it's a fine line between a question being too easy or too hard. :P

Here I come, ready or not! :)

"Waiting For The Sun" - The Doors

"World Shut Your Mouth" - Julian Cope

"Oxygene" - Jean-Michel Jarre

"Sheer Heart Attack" - Queen

"If You Want Blood You Got It" - AC/DC

Oxygene is the only album that contains it's title track on the same album.

The songs are on a different album other than the album that has the same title as the song.

"Waiting For The Sun" - The Doors is on Morrison Hotel

"World Shut Your Mouth" - Julian Cope is on Saint Julian

"Sheer Heart Attack" - Queen is on News of the World

"If You Want Blood You've Got It" - AC/DC is on Highway to Hell

Led Zeppelin's Houses of the Holy is another example of this, as it is on Physical Graffiti.

Albums:

Blood Sugar Sex Magic - Red Hot Chili Peppers

Licensed to Ill - Beastie Boys

Wildflowers - Tom Petty

Dream Police - Cheap Trick

Raising Hell - Run DMC

Wandering Spirit - Mick Jagger

I'll take an educated guess:

BSSM, Licensed to Ill and Raising Hell are all Rick Rubin productions, even if I don't know it for the other three I guess that that's the common theme.

And as the oldest album of the remaining three is Dream Police, I'd say that that's the odd one out?

tl;dr Dream Police by Cheap Trick is the only album not produced by Rick Rubin

damn, I'm good

Paradise Circus ~ Massive Attack

Another Day in Paradise ~ Phil Collins

Welcome to Paradise ~ Green Day

Gangsta's Paradise ~ Coolio

Paradise By the Dashboard Light ~ Meat Loaf

Can it be called a "cover" if the whole lyrics are different? And Paradise Circus features a female vocalist too (okay, she's credited though)

Either way, both are not what I was looking for.

"Welcome To Paradise" by Green Day is the oddball.

All the other songs feature another artist with vocal parts in the song.

"Paradise Circus" - Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star

"Another Day In Paradise" - David Crosby

"Gangsta's Paradise" - L.V. (Larry Sanders)

"Paradise By The Dashboard Light" - Ellen Foley

Welcome to Paradise is correct, but the reason is a different one: that song is the only one of the five that is about an actual place (Oakland), but I guess that was a bit too obscure, so I'll just accept your explanation

Ricky not being a band and Beatles not being from the U.S. are too obvious, even though it fits.

I guess I should have noticed that and thought of a couple of other examples.

For this set, you need to look at song titles from each.

Boston is the only one that doesn't have a song that contains the word "Hole" in the title?

Nine Inch Nails - Head like a Hole

The Beatles - Fixing a Hole

Alice In Chains - Down in a Hole

Extreme - Hole Hearted

Ricky Van Shelton - Hole in my Pocket

Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
