Dappled
I have made a playlist for the Top 40, which I intend to update as it changes. I've tried to find live videos or at least footage of the artists as they perform the songs. Hope you like. The link is in my signature!

OLD 55
It's gotten a bit confusing. Lea, you've already voted in Top 40 #10. I'll contact Carl and see if we can get a separate Thread for this. It would be clearer to see what's going on, and also easier for people to find. I believe we would have more chance of attracting new voters too. VOTING IS CLOSED. RESULTS OF TOP 40 #10 COMING UP SOON

MindCrime
The newcomers were predictable, but it's a good change.

Lucky
Lars, that's absolutely FANTASTIC Thank You. Maybe we could put a link to it in the Top Ten if it's OK with Lucky If what's ok with Lucky? I just read my name, I'm lost. A link to the Weekly Top 40? A link to the playlist? Both of the above? Of course it will be fine, but tell me what I'm saying yes to!

OLD 55
Dap has a Link to the Playlist as his signature on each of his posts. (Our Posts crossed Lucky). I've PT'd him to ask if he can make a separate Post of the Playlist each week. We won't start the next Top 40 just yet. It's gotten too confusing all in one thread, hasn't it, so we're going to make a new Thread each week. I've been talking to The Chief about it. He thinks it has the potential to grow and grow. We'll try to make it more structured as far as start and finish times go. I'll hopefully let you know more very soon. cyberjudge
Welcome again to G.O.-40. DJ Ceejay is in the house to count down this week's chart. Only 2 songs drop out this week: Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley couldn't help falling out of the 40, nor could Sea Cruise by Frankie Ford. Those songs are replaced by Hit the Road Jack, one of 2 songs on this week's chart by Ray Charles, which debuts at #38, and the first entry for Lesley Gore, It's My Party which breaks in at #21. The biggest movers in this week's chart are: I Walk the Line by Johnny Cash, up 14 from 40 to 26 My Boyfriend's Back by the Angels, climbing 13 rungs from 33 to 20 I Put a Spell on You by Screaming Jay Hawkins, moving up 8 from 39 to 31, and That'll Be the Day by Buddy Holly, rising 7 notches from 21 to 14. One new song enters the top 10 this week, as Cathy's Clown by the Everly Brothers edges up 2 spots from 12 to 10, bumping out Up on the Roof by the Drifters. Cathy's Clown joins another song in the top 10 by Phil & Don, All I Have to Do Is Dream, which stays in the top 10 again this week at #7. All I Have to Do Is Dream was a former #1, so this is a good time to recap all the songs that have hit #1 on the G.O.-40: Leading off at #1 on the very 1st chart was Don't Be Cruel by Elvis Presley. In week 2, the #1 was (We're Gonna) Rock Around the Clock by Bill Haley & his Comets. In weeks 3, 4 and 5, the chart topper was Runaway by Del Shannon. In weeks 6 and 7, the Everly Brothers held the top spot with All I Have to Do Is Dream. And the last 2 weeks, the #1 song was Travelin' Man by Ricky Nelson. Travelin' Man slips from #1 to #4 this week, with Crazy by Patsy Cline moving up to #3. Del Shannon's Runaway inches back up to #2, meaning we have the 6th different song to lead the chart in only the 10th week of the count down. The new number 1 song this week is ... Crying by Roy Orbison. That wraps up this week's show. Thanks to Darryl for another great job in compiling the chart, and thanks also to Lars for setting up a playlist for your listening pleasure. Until next week, keep your head in the stars and keep reaching for the ground.
