  1. I voted for Brian Johnson. Though I think both of their voices are good, that is, they fit well within the band's sound, I prefer Johnson's overall. Also I think Angus Young is a pretty underrated guitarist. He's not a virtuoso or anything but he stuck to a very distinct, basic yet powerful style. A great style that, I think, also characterized AC/DC as a whole: tasteful, raw and energetic.
  2. for me. I think he is, technically, very skilled and overall quite influential but I could never really get into his sound or style.
  3. Congrats!!, on your recently attained lobster-icity. :: I hope to get there myself someday soon.
  4. Actually its really more of a chord but still one of the best endings .
  5. My vote goes for Daltrey too. Though both of their voices fit superbly within the sound of their respective groups, I prefer Daltrey's overall. It has a certain strength and stability that I enjoy in a male's voice.
  6. Not sure if it was mentioned yet but I find "Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)" by Green Day painfully sad, a la "Yesterday".
  7. Here is some info I found on them. Limp Bizkit's main albums: Three Dollar Bill Y'All (1997) Significant Other (1999) Chocolate Starfish and the Hotdog Flavoured Water (2000) New Old Songs (Remixes) (2001) Result May Vary (2003) I don't think Fred Durst has done any solo albums though.
  8. Your welcome. Very happy to hear its not cancer and I hope and pray the treatment goes well and wish you the best of health.
  9. All Music Guide gives one possible interpretation of the song, stating that it is basically an attack on superstardom and the music industry. Click the link below to view the full article: AMG Mr Soul Review Hope it helps .
  10. Most of the music I enjoy today was made a long time before I was even born. However, when I was about seven or eight, I remember my dad buying a few Elton John albums (CDs) and playing them a lot thereafter. Though I wasn't really into music then I enjoyed them immensely (even so much as memorizing the words to half the songs on Goodbye Yellow Brick Road). Eight or so years later and I still am very fond of Elton's John work. (Also his impressive skill at the piano partly inspired me to take up the instrument.)
  11. Don't know much of their other work but "Bittersweet Symphony" rocks!! That is one awesome riff.
  12. I thought it was excellent, very well written and wonderfully poetic. Great job! .
  13. Your welcome, and I believe that one is an original, yes.
  14. Pearl Jam's "Crazy Mary" is a cover. The song was originally written by folk singer/songwriter Victoria Williams. They performed it on a 1993 tribute album that helped raise money for her MS treatment.
  15. An excellent outro indeed and my choice as well. As for intros, I couldn't say which is the best but a few favorites leap to mind: - "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Welcome to the Jungle" - GNR - "Stairway to Heaven" - Led Zeppelin - "Pinball Wizard" - The Who - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" - The Beatles - "Bloody Well Right" - Supertramp.
  16. That maybe true, Daniel, but I have a soft spot for his soulful, acoustic work of the early 90's. In addition, I couldn't honestly think of another favorite artist for that decade.
  17. Mostly my favorite movies, bands or artists and some shows from each decade: 50's: Paths of Glory Chuck Berry 60's: Lawrence of Arabia / A Hard Day's Night The Beatles / The Band 70's: The Godfather Led Zeppelin / The Who 80's: Ordinary People AC/DC / Guns N' Roses 90's: The Shawshank Redemption Eric Clapton Seinfeld / The Simpsons 2000+: Almost Famous / Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon ER / CSI (Las Vegas)
  18. Ok, I looked it up and I think the above link is making a comparision between Mary J Blige and Candi Staton but "Victim" was Staton's song (written by Dave Crawford) released around 1978. Not sure if there are covers. Here are tentative lyrics: When I started out It was just a matter of seeing you every day I looked forward to the times When you would come my way, oh yes I longed just to see you Wore a smile just to greet you I'm a victim of the very song i sing You gave me a brand new reason To start fixing up my face Having cocktails at your favorite place A table just for two Got rid of loneliness, now that I have you I became a victim of the very song I sing I told you young hearts run free When I didn't listen to myself Engulfed by the power of love I just fell right in, right on in Wasn't hardly worried about tomorrow You're the future As lond as I was being satisfied I didn't need nothing else And now already, I'm being left at home I wonder what it is That makes a man leave a girl so alone Another woman is the thing Running around, it just don't seem to change Victim, victim, victim, victim I'm a victin of the very song I sing Why don't you practice what you preach That's what everybody's telling me If my advice is good for others It's got to be good for me So I try to occupy my mind Keep myself busy all the time But the more I try to do The more I keep thinking of you Oh well, I guess I'll end up in the lost and found Looks like love and me We done fought another round Another woman is his claim to fame And I'm lucky if I can break these chains Victim... Help me sing do do wap oh oh do do wap...
  19. Agreed. He made an immense and indelible contribution to the Beatles sound while helping them to grow as artists and musicians. Also his post-Beatles work is impressive. I don't think any producer was more successful or influencial overall. Definitely one of the best .
  20. I watched the first episode of The O.C. and after that I only tuned in once in a while but having seen the last couple shows of the season I am kind of looking forward to it again. Not normally a teen drama watcher, I was skeptical at first but now I like it (and a few others). ::
