  1. She was a 60's singer, that died in 1970. She was far from being a one hit wonder, as she had many songs played on the radio, such as Mercedes Benz, Move Over, Cry Baby & many others.
  2. I don't see much with Yes, to avoid them altogether, I think they're just as revolutionary & great sounding as just about any other prog rock band.
  3. now it's up a bunch, I've noticed some threads that don't have many responses, still have 100's - 1,000's of views, but this site is search-able on google, that's how I found it in the first place.
  4. They weren't really a one hit wonder, over here they still play the song Water's Edge on the radio, the other has since disappeared.
  5. The only soundtrack it appears on is American Wedding, as far as movie appearances that's different.
  6. Yeah she is, incredible voice too. It's just too bad your topic names aren't one of a kind like she is, not to flame this thread in any way or anything.
  7. That doesn't really specify it enough, and it only narrows it down to about 750 different bands. Do you know what year this was? Unless your talking about sanders & not singers. Then I have no idea.
  8. You spelled Queensryche correct, and they're a good band & worth the listen. They weren't credited as much, because they were a talented progressive rock band, which was overshadowed by the commercially glamorized Hair Band era of the 80's. And Yes is another great band that isn't credited with what they deserve.
  9. I felt the same way after listening to the entire album, it sounds more like a hard core STP with a whined down voice, and the GnR influences are weak & disregarded. I like the songs Spectacle & Headspace though.
  10. I forgot to vote in this, my pick would be Ride the Lightning mainly because of "Fade to Black" as well as a few other choice cuts, like Trapped Under Ice, Creeping Death, etc. Master of Puppets would be another good one, but I personally don't think it's as brilliant as the previous, favorite songs being Welcome Home, Leper Messiah, & Orion. The main reason why I didn't chose And Justice for All, is the demise of Burton, the album was still good though, but that's around the point they they started to slip & fade. Frayed ends of Sanity is still a good cut though & the solo from One.
  11. U2 is a good band for love songs, "All I Want is You" as mentioned in the previous post, also "With or Without You", "One", "Love is Blindness", & "Until the End of the World".
  12. Wish You Were Here You're gonna go far, you're gonna fly high, you're never gonna die, you're gonna make it if you try; they're gonna love you. Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears, wish you were here. A Momentary Lapse of Reason No more turning away from the weak and the weary no more turning away from the coldness inside just a world that we all must share it's not enough just to stand and stare is it only a dream that there'll be no more turning away? One world, one soul Time pass, the river roll I will always be here I will always look out from behind these eyes It's only a lifetime It's only a lifetime It's only a lifetime Animals we would zig zag our way through the boredom and pain, occasionally glancing up through the rain, wondering which of the buggers to blame and watching for pigs on the wing. Gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused. Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used. Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise. If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my own way out of this maze? You know that I care what happens to you, and I know that you care for me, so I don't feel alone, or the weight of the stone, now that I've found somewhere safe to bury my bone. And any fool knows a dog needs a home, a shelter from pigs on the wing. Piper at the Gates of Dawn Why'd you have to leave me there Hanging in my infant air, waiting You only have to read the lines of Scribbly black and everything shines Lazing in the foggy dew Sitting on a unicorn no fear You can't hear me but I can you Alone in the clouds all blue Lying on an eiderdown, yippee You can't see me but I can you All movement is accomplished in six stages And the seventh brings return The seven is the number of the young light It forms when darkness is increased by one Meddle You say the hill's to steep to climb, climbing you say you'd like to see me try, climbing you pick the place and I'll choose the time and I'll climb the hill in my own way just wait a while for the right day and as I rise above the tree-line and the clouds I look down, hearing the sounds of the things you've said today And no-one showed us to the land And no-one knows the where or whys But something stirs and something tries And starts to climb towards the light
  13. Is it by a female singer? There's an Alanis Morissette song with that title. It's not new though, it's from her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill. Standing there on a road that leads to anywhere Like a child left in the wilderness, standing there penniless Wanting to be the best Here's a place where life runs at a different pace Where love is just convenient, none are obedient And we are subservient Look at me, I'm a girl that some may preconceive Why do they try and generalize, why are they antagonizing me But something I can't control that... Chorus: I WANTCHA You know I'll never stop 'til I've GOTCHA You'll never be quite the same when I ROCK YA I'm not the kind of girl that you thought I was You'll have a good time 'cause I WANTCHA I'm breaking down the walls 'till I have you, feel you Show you the time of your life Here we are and I wonder how we've come this far In a world that does not recognize women are victimized What does that symbolize Why do I want the things I usually criticize It may be self destructiveness, or maybe it's emptiness inside But something I can't control that... Repeat Chorus You'll have a good time... It's a lonely road, and no one knows the way that I feel I'm not giving up now... I'll never try to justify They'll never understand, you'll be a happy man You'll have the time of your life It's something, it's something, it's something that I can't control The time of your life...
  14. Troubadours were artists as in Poets / Songwriters who originated in Spain & Southern France during the early renaissance era. They faced tribulations while traveling the world, but any information found relating to their demise is irrelevant. It?s possible that Jagger was liberally using this term in a metaphor approach, as a reference to modern-day singers, which still doesn't explain any theory of Satanism.
  15. I read this wrong when I was looking at it yesterday, I thought it was referring to the original album covers that were rejected, this is an artist's tribute to their favorite bands & what cover they would've created. The Jimi Hendrix selection is IMHO the only conceptual artwork that would?ve been well placed as an album cover, as well as the flowing controversy from of the Doors pick. The rest look like ?Flop work?, although I like the quality on the Tom Petty choice, it still doesn?t appear to correspond with his brilliant work.
  16. I enjoyed that movie, but not so much for the plot or acting. I was more captivated by the special effects used. The earthquake scientist was pretty obvious at determining there was a problem in the area, and the actors (other than Bacon?s performance) were tedious & didn?t act horrified enough IMO. They seemed to focus more on taking matters into their own hands than they were concerned about the dilemma.
  17. Rafferty played the acoustic guitar parts on the album "City to City", as well as singing, piano, & producing. Hugh Burns played the Electric Guitar, so I'm guessing it was him. There's a few others credited with for providing guitar on the album as well, including Jerry Donahue.
  18. Gene Frenkle - Will Ferrell did a skit of behind the music posing as him on SNL.
  19. Some references state that it was mentioning the Beatles on their Magical Mystery tour, when they toured India & never made it that far. Other theories indicate it?s about a group of 11th century artists who traveled the world, & established controversy by the people of India. For more information Sympathy for the Devil explanation
  20. I can see why the Led Zeppelin #2 didn't make it, a nice concept for the album however. I like the one for The Doors though, especially the back cover.
  21. I don?t believe his wife had much to do with it, unless it was a matrimonial crisis. I mostly blame it on a bad heroin dose, he probably started to become frenetic & turned to a state of panic. Under dreadful sanity, pulled the trigger to end his trip.
  22. It appears to be a foreign song (maybe?) the song title is Slow Poke, but nothing could be found on the singer.
  23. At first, I was thinking maybe it was INXS, based on the look of the lead singer, the Sax, & 1987 being the year taken. Then I realized the lead singer doesn't play guitar & the other band mates don't look the same. This band appears to be a form of possibly Country-Rock with a Sax Player. --edit--- another guess is maybe Night Ranger, but I don't think they had a Sax player.
  24. Based on the music you've already listed, maybe throw in some Allman Brothers, Steppenwolf, Bread, ZZ Top, Yes, Steve Miller Band, Steely Dan, Bob Segar, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Peter Frampton & Free, just to name a few. To add a variety, maybe some Queen, T-Rex, Todd Rundgren & Sweet.
  25. I'm not sure if they are the same song, the last track on Above is called All Alone, this song is just called Alone & is a under 4 minute acoustic version by Pearl Jam & Alice in Chains.
