  1. I actually prefer scores over songs. A good song can help illustrate a point, but usually it takes my mind off the movie. I watched "Love Actually" recently and there were so many songs that it was hard to concentrate on the movie for the singing (and of course I have to sing along). You shouldn't notice a score, it should just enhance the movie experience.
  2. I think as long as there is a designated, separate area, smoking should be allowed in restaurants. If you are in a bar, health obviously isn't at the forefront of your mind, so deal with it. Random related thought...if I am on a plane that still has the ashtray in the armrest, I get just a little uneasy. How long has it been since they've made those? Am I on the AMC Pacer of airplanes? ::
  3. Marlon Brando passed away last week...big loss. He was great in "A Streetcar Named Desire", "On The Waterfront", and of course "The Godfather". He will be missed. Image link
  4. I have never heard of them before. I checked out their website and they have a song called "Macon Georgia Greezy Hambone Blues". I live an hour from Macon, Georgia! What a great song...I will definitely be checking them out.
  5. Muzik, I just laughed out loud at work! :: Yes, his voice work was uncredited, but that's him. He's also Lt. Stottlemyer on "Monk", a very funny TV show. He's got quite a diverse career.
  6. The voice of Rusty Nail is Ted Levine, who played Buffalo Bill in "Silence of the Nails". "It rubs the lotion on its body."
  7. If they had even said 50 greatest bands I wouldn't have been quite so offended. But as much as I love Public Enemy (and believe me, I do), they are not rock. The list still wouldn't have been good IMHO, but at least it wouldn't have narrowed it down to a specific genre. And yes, Scott, I do rock it Bueller-style, biatch!
  8. Tribute Tenacious D [spoken] This is the greatest and best song in the world... Tribute. Long time ago me and my brother Kyle here, we was hitchhikin' down a long and lonesome road. All of a sudden, there shined a shiny demon... in the middle... of the road. And he said: [sung] "Play the best song in the world, or I'll eat your soul." (soul) [spoken] Well me and Kyle, we looked at each other, and we each said... "Okay." [sung] And we played the first thing that came to our heads, Just so happened to be, The Best Song in the World, it was The Best Song in the World. Look into my eyes and it's easy to see One and one make two, two and one make three, It was destiny. Once every hundred-thousand years or so, When the sun doth shine and the moon doth glow And the grass doth grow... Needless to say, the beast was stunned. Whip-crack went his schwumpy tail, And the beast was done. He asked us: "(snort) Be you angels?" And we said, "Nay. We are but men." Rock! Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh-ah-ah, Ohhh, whoah, ah-whoah-oh! This is not The Greatest Song in the World, no. This is just a tribute. Couldn't remember The Greatest Song in the World, no, no. This is a tribute, oh, to The Greatest Song in the World, All right! It was The Greatest Song in the World, All right! It was the best muthaf**kin' song the greatest song in the world. [2-part skat] Oh mama...Lucifer [spoken] And the peculiar thing is this my friends: the song we sang on that fateful night it didn't actually sound anything like this song. [sung] This is just a tribute! You gotta believe me! And I wish you were there! Just a matter of opinion. Ah, f**k! Good God, God lovin', So surprised to find you can't stop it. [skat] All right! All right! :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:
  9. I have a friend in a cover band. I can't even count how many times I have seen them. This is a sampling of what they play. Very Southern fried rock. Every once in a while they will freak out and play something completely left of center. They did "Kiss" by Prince one night and everyone went crazy. Alright Now by Free Dr. Dr. (Bad Case of Loving You) by Robert Palmer Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood Best of My Love by The Eagles Born to Be Wild by Steppenwolf Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison Can't Get Enough by Bad Company Can't You See by Marshall Tucker Band Cocaine by Eric Clapton Gimme Three Steps by Lynard Skynard Hard to Handle by Otis Redding / Black Crowes Honky Tonk Woman by The Rolling Stones Keep Your Hands to Yourself by Georgia Satellites Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet Mony Mony by Tommy James/ Billy Idol Mustang Sally by Wilson Pickett Old Time Rock and Roll by Bob Seger Proud Mary by Creedance Cleawater Some Kind of Wonderful by Grand Funk Railroad Sweet Home Alabama by Lynard Skynard The Boys are Back in Town by Thin Lizzy Turn the Page by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band Wonderful Tonite by Eric Clapton You May be Right by Billy Joel You Really Got Me by the Kinks/Van Halen Your Mamma Don't Dance by Loggins and Messina
  10. What the hell was that? I am not at peace looking at that! ::
  11. I loved the video for "Gin & Juice"! I think I have heard of him before...classic! ::
  12. I have acquired quite the southern accent after living in Georgia for the past 13 years. When I go back to Connecticut to visit my family, I sound like the biggest redneck! "How y'all doin'? Kiss my grits!" ::
  13. Ken, You don't post as often as you used to...I had to lure you in some way! I knew my Wile E. Coyote plan would work! Peaches
  14. Sara's favorite curse word "I'm known for using "rats" a lot." Carl's favorite curse word "Rat Farts" All of a sudden I feel like one #$%@!-ing vulgar &$%#! ::
  15. Sounds like there is an interesting story behind that...
  16. No, they really skimmed over the early years. I actually think if it was done right they could have made it a 2 hour show. They barely even mentioned Duff and Izzy. I forgot they interviewed Gilby whats-his-name that replaced Izzy. Damn it, I miss GnR!
  17. Yeah, it was VH1. I didn't know they weren't doing them anymore, but now that I think about it, I haven't seen a new one in a while. Slash, Steven Adler & Matt Sorum were the only band members interviewed. It was pretty interesting, but I think if you are familiar with them, no new ground is broken. Link to VH1 GnR page
  18. Jakob, Good job! I went to the site and it previews the song...it's very pretty. I liked her on "American Idol". I wonder why they didn't release the song here. Here are the lyrics... The One Vanessa Olivarez I know that I'm supposed to be happy for you I wish that I could wish you well But I can't stop what my heart is thinkin' every night Now I'll have to keep it to myself What I'm feelin' I can't help A secret I can never tell Chorus Not a day goes by When I don't think of you And your angel eyes That I'm so drawn into If you'd say the word Into your arms I'd run Oh, I sure wish that I could be the one How could I have known she'd leave you breathless When I left you alone just for awhile Now she's the one who's become the centre of you life When you fell, you fell a thousand miles Chorus Not a day goes by When I don't think of you And your angel eyes That I'm so drawn into If you'd say the word Into your arms I'd run Oh, I sure wish that I could be the one Who in your eyes could do no wrong Who'd be with you your whole life long I can't believe my chance is gone Repeat Chorus Oh, I sure wish that I could be the one
  19. I saw the "Behind the Music" on GnR last night. It was your basic Axl is an a**hole, Slash was a drunk kind of thing. But what really upset me was Steven Adler, the original drummer. They showed him talking about the early days of the band, and I thought "He looks rough...too much hard living." Then they talked about kicking him out of the band because he was partying too hard and couldn't get it together to record "Use Your Illusion". He suffered "a cocaine-induced stroke". He said "The people I thought were my friends left me, and I had nothing. I tried everything I could to kill myself." I really felt sorry for him. I know drugs are bad and he brought it on himself, but he was just so sad and pitiful.
  20. Yeah, where is he? I would think you couldn't have a list like this without him!
  21. Van Der Beek was da bomb in "Varsity Blues", yo!
  22. We think anything with an English accent is funny over here. It kills me when we Americans "adapt" English TV...it usually doesn't go over very well. They tried to do "Coupling" and it was terrible. Now they have Graham Norton on Comedy Central. I've not seen it, but he is so bawdy on BBC America, I don't know how it will translate. I was so proud when "The Office" won a Golden Globe without it having to be Americanized.
  23. Have you never eaten a watermelon? Oh my...they are delicious!
