Keira Knightley looks positively emaciated in the photograph. So many actresses today go for the skeletal look like Knightley or Teri Hatcher. Yuk! I didn't think the picture of a gay guy nibbling Knightley's ear looked particularly sinister. I think Tom Ford looks a bit like Jeremy Pivens.

I liked the opening bit with Eric Idle, but then I have always thought that he was the funniest Python!! I do agree with Ron Jon about the Hollywood Bowl performances. The original skits from the television series were, IMO, better. I did, however, love the Hollywood Bowl version of the travel agent sketch which has always been one of my favourite Python bits. The Hollywood Bowl version runs longer than the original sketch from the TV series. I'm off to Cuba for 2 weeks, but I've got the VCR set to tape the next several installments of the PBS special. Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar, Hobbs was fond of his dram, Rene Descartes was a drunken fart, I drink therefore I am! Hasta Luego!!

From the above, one might assume that I don't like Joni Mitchell. Not true. She's awesome!! Eric Clapton's version of I Shot The Sheriff over Bob Marley's original. :happybanana: :happybanana:

Ian Gillan on Strange Kind Of Woman (for that matter on many of Deep Purple's tunes). James Brown and Klaus Meine of the Scorpions are pretty accomplished "screamers" as well.

Procol Harem recorded a live album in 1972 with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and I believe The Moody Blues used orchestras on several of their recordings. As mentioned earlier, Rick Wakeman has often utilized symphony or chamber orchestras on his recordings.

Basically, I agree with Jimmy. With a few exceptions, most of the films released by the big Hollywood studios are drek. There are the aforementioned "dreadful" sequels, big budget special effects laden extravaganzas(long on action and very short on plot or characterization) and gorefests like Hostel or Saw. A great many of the most interesting movies are made by samaller, independent studios or by foreign studios. While Hollywood likes to blame the popularity of DVD's and satellite T.V. for declining box office receipts, I believe people are just tired of paying big bucks to watch mediocre or just plain awful films. As for the Academy Awards, I haven't watched more than 20 minutes of any awards show in more than 10 years. Long, boring acceptance speeches, lame jokes and narcissistic behaviour do not, IMO, make for good television. Please bring back Billy Crystal!!!

To me, a classic song is one that sounds as original and vibrant today as it did when it was first recorded. IMO, the following songs are rock/pop classics: Night Moves - Bob Seger Heart Of Gold - Neil Young In My Life - The Beatles Wild Horses - The Stones Sultans Of Swing - Dire Straits Rhiannon - Fleetwood Mac Daniel - Elton John Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp These are just a few of the literally hundreds of songs I could name.

Although I am not a huge fan of blues music, there are several artists I really like: Johnny Winter - IMO, the best electric blues guitarist ever! Big Joe Williams - I just love his unique sound. Tommy Castro - plays music that is a mixture of blues, rock, jazz and soul. SRV - another great electric blues guitarist. Robert Cray. Mississippi Fred McDowell.

The Steelers victory was a mixed blessing for me. I was cheering for Seattle (primarily because I like Mike Holmgren the former coach of my beloved Packers) but I won my office pool since I picked the Steelers to win (24 to 10). I feel sorry for Matt Hasselbeck. If his receivers had not had dropsy and if the refereeing had not been so one sided, PERHAPS the result would have been different. As they say, statistics are for losers. It appears that Jerramy Stevens can talk the talk but he can't walk the walk. That's enough cliches for now.

Almost anything Clapton plays live is better than his conservative studio offerings. Johnny Winter - Mean Town Blues. He is an electifying live performer. I'm Going Home by Alvin Lee At Woodstock. IMO, the highlight of the whole Woodstock performance.

Southern Culture On The Skids, Webb Wilder, Moon Martin and lesser known 70's hard rock acts like Starz, Montrose, Budgie and Billy Squier.

If it's not too late to make a suggestion, Mars, The Bringer Of War from The Planets by Gustav Holst might be quite effective for Category 1 and Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells might work quite well for Category 3. It was very effective in the movie "The Exorcist".

And admit it, you love it, don't you?

There are SOOOOOOOOO many to choose from. Here are a few of my favourites: Johnny Winter - Mean Town Blues and It's All Over Now Alvin Lee - his smokin' solo from his Woodstock performance of I"m Going Home or any of his solos from Keep On Rockin'. Link Wray - The Way I Walk Collins and Rossington on the aforementioned Freebird. The guitarist responsible for the solo on Steely Dan's "Do It Again" I also love Duane Allman's slide work on Statesboro Blues :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

Mary Chapin Carpenter - Rhythm Of The Blues and That's Real Jane Olivor - Weeping Willows, Cattails and You're The One I Love John Fogerty - Deja Vu All Over Again Ian Matthews of Matthews Southern Comfort singing Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" These are all I can think of off the top of my head.

As Brad mentioned, all of the Eagles' material is great. Two of my favourite (non-hit) Eagles tunes are King Of Hollywood from The Long Run album and Pretty Maids All In A Row from the Hotel California album. It's a shame that they recently kicked Don Felder out of the band. The chemistry between him and Joe Walsh was fabulous. :guitar: :guitar: :guitar:

One I forgot to mention in my earlier post, is The Bishop's Wife (the one with Cary Grant and David Niven not the horrible remake with Whitney Houston). In this movie, Grant plays Dudley, an angel who is sent to earth to help the faltering marriage of a young minister (Niven) who is struggling to raise funds for a new cathedral. However, the angel has a mind of his own and trouble ensues when the minister's wife (Loretta Young) begins to develop feelings for Dudley. A wonderful film, with great performances by the principals.

Based on the poll results, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out to which demographic the majority of the respondents belong. Tom Cruise the biggest star of all time.....PUHLEASE!! It is to laugh.
