  1. Not too late at all =) Still working with all the suggestions...thanks!
  2. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. =) I'm going to be using a good amount of them...I'll post the final set I use. Thanks again =) Laura
  3. Hey everyone =) I've been assigned a project on Macbeth (I can feel the excitement building in all of you already) that is to compile a soundtrack for the play. Don't worry about having knowledge of the play..it's more that I'm having trouble locating the kind of songs I need. The songs can be anything from any decade, any genre of music (please take exception to rap, though). =) Here's the general idea of what kinds I'm looking for: Category 1: War-like songs for battle scenes. Basically, anything with a marching tempo of some sort...or just a war-like feel at all. Category 2: Ominous, mysterious songs for ghost/apparition appearances. Self-explanatory. Category 3: Tragic, murder scene suited songs. Basically, a song suited for a scene when assassins go after their culprit. Dangerous, etc. Category 4: Open-ended "quirkiness". Anything weird-sounding but not entirely positive/happy. Suited for a scene of witches brewing potions. =) Hopefully those of you here will be able to come up with more than the relatively blank slate I've got going here. lol Thanks in advance! =) Laura
  4. Had to post about these guys...they're one of my new favorites of the moment. I find them to be refreshing, a great new sound. Their song 'Struggle' is being used now on a Pontiac commercial, which is where I first heard these guys. Their self-titled release is pretty solid, lacking on a few songs but at the same time, worth it. I enjoy listening to them. =) So go check out Ringside! =D http://www.ringsideband.com/ ~ Laura
  5. I've actually never heard of these but... "Hold On" - Wilson Phillips "World In Motion" - Englandneworder I was born too late lol
  6. Since I have the Stones shuffling through iTunes, I'd have to say... Brown Sugar Don't Stop Start Me Up Honky Tonk Women Satisfaction Tumbling Dice The Last Time 19th Nervous Breakdown Shattered I'll come back when I can process other kinds of music besides the Stones...
  7. I have to say I never got the excitement over Pink Floyd. Personally, I find them overrated, highly. As for the White Stripes, I think some of their stuff is brilliant and some of it is just bad. But then again, is that not the case with most bands? Also, I take huge issue with the amount of mainstream 'screaming' going on. I can't take much more of it before I die. It's terrible. As for newer bands, The Shins and The Killers are highly overrated. It's insane. Laura
  8. Agreed. Except for the song E-Pro.
  9. Coffee -- Copeland There's plenty of time left tonight I promised I'd have you home before daylight We do the best we can in a small town Act like big city kids when the sun goes down [chorus] If it's not too late for coffee I'll be at your place in ten We'll hit that all night diner And then we'll see There's so many things I have to say I'll stay up all night to hear about your day We do the best we can in a small town Act like kids in love when the sun goes down [chorus] There's a love that transcends All that we've known of ourselves And I'll wait for it to come I'll wait for it to come Well it's got to be strong to touch my heart Through its shell And I'll wait for it to come I'll wait for it to come [chorus] There's a love that transcends All that we've known of ourselves And I'll wait for it to come I'll wait for it to come Well it's got to be strong to touch my heart Through its shell And I'll wait for it to come I'll wait for it to come down The Coffee Song -- Frank Sinatra Way down among Brazilians Coffee beans grow by the billions So they've got to find those extra cups to fill They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil You can't get cherry soda 'Cause they've got to fill that quota And the way things are I'll bet they never will They've got a zillion tons of coffee in Brazil No tea or tomato juice You'll see no potato juice The planters down in Santos all say no no no The politician's daughter Was accused of drinking water And was fined a great big fifty dollar bill They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil You date a girl and find out later She smells just like a percolator Her perfume was made right on the grill Why they could percolate the ocean in Brazil And when their ham and eggs need savor Coffee ketchup gives 'em flavor Coffee pickles way outsell the dill Why they put coffee in the coffee in Brazil So your lead to the local color Serving coffee with a cruller Dunking doesn't take a lot of skill They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil Two Beds And A Coffee Machine -- Savage Garden And she takes another step Slowly she opens the door Check that he is sleeping Pick up all the broken glass and furniture on the floor Been up half the night screaming now it's time to get away Pack up the kids in the car Another bruise to try and hide Another alibi to write Another ditch in the road You keep moving Another stop sign You keep moving on And the years go by so fast Wonder how I ever made it through And there are children to think of Baby's asleep in the backseat Wonder how they'll ever make it through this living nightmare But the mind is an amazing thing Full of candy dreams and new toys in another cheap hotel Two beds and a coffee machine But there are groceries to buy And she knows she'll have to go home Another ditch in the road You keep moving Another stop sign You keep moving on And the years go by so fast Wonder how I ever made it through Another bruise to try and hide Another alibi to write Another lonely highway in the black of night But there's hope in the darkness You know you're going to make it Another ditch in the road Keep moving Another stop sign You keep moving on And the years go by so fast Silent fortress built to last Wonder how I ever made it Famous Last Words -- Billy Joel Sitting here in Avalon, looking at the pouring rain Summertime has come and gone and everybody's home again Closing down for the season, I found the last of the souvenirs I can still taste the wedding cake and it's sweet after all these years These are the last words I have to say That's why this took so long to write There will be other words some other day But that's the story of my life There's comfort in my coffee cup and apples in the early fall They're pulling all the moorings up and gathering at the Legion Hall They swept away all the streamers after the Labor Day parade Nothing left for a dream now, only one final serenade And these are the last words I have to say Before another age goes by With all those other songs I'll have to play But that's the story of my life And it's so clear standing here where I am Ain't that what justice is for? Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn anymore Stack the chairs on the table tops Hang the sheets on the chandeliers It slows down but it never stops Ain't it sweet after all these years And these are the last words I have to say It's always hard to say goodbye But now it's time to put this book away Ain't that the story of my life Musn't forget...Good Cup Of Coffee by Vance Gilbert Clearly, I have nothing better to do...so I went coffee hunting. Laura
  10. Ughhhh I can't take 'Yeah' by Usher....I hate it...just...ugh. Cotton-Eyed Joe. Enough said. Any rap "songs" pretty much make this list for me. Let's throw hip hop and r&b up there too.
  11. I've become a big fan of these guys recently...they've got a great sound and a lead vocalist with the perfect voice for their kind of music, which is a mix of a heavy rock sound and just plain great guitar. Some of their stuff could be classified as classic rock. Reccommended: Die With Your Boots On (Iron Maiden cover) Don't Say A Word Kingdom for a Heart These guys are good -- definitely worth a listen. Laura
  12. This is to some extent autobiographical...it was written on a pretty difficult night for me... Harmless Sin I?m living in fear Of the worst kind of pain No violence, no torture Much too hard to explain The words pierce right through me It?s getting harder to bare I come home too frightened Too easily scared :: CHORUS :: These expectations are frightening Don?t know where to begin Tell me something enlightening Save me from harmless sin Because I?m feeling so helpless I?m out of choices again Please tell me something enlightening Save me from harmless sin I wish that I could slow this moment So I will never make it home Oh the prospects are frightening I can?t be here all alone I need two hands to support me I need some air to be breathing I?m suffocating from talking Without my soul, I am freezing :: CHORUS :: These expectations are frightening Don?t know where to begin Tell me something enlightening Save me from harmless sin Because I?m feeling so helpless I?m out of choices again Please tell me something enlightening Save me from harmless sin Because I don?t know how to feel Don?t even know if you are real But if you are then all I need All I ask, oh could you please Because it?s oh so hard to breathe These expectations are frightening Don?t know where to begin Tell me something enlightening And save me From harmless sin
  13. This one's pretty self-explanatory...inspiration came from listening to Goodnight Saigon way too many times...lol Laura Letter Under Green When the shadows fall The trees, they shield us all From the hidden enemies And the now predicted siege When tomorrow comes The sun will blind us all And the attacker that comes first Leads the men against the wall We?ll go down into the ground Seeking shelter from the fire No protection from the sound And no time remains to tire So we fire into the crowd At the enemy ahead Running towards the line of fire With our helmets on our heads And we can hope That today will soon be gone And tomorrow when we wake We will be here to march on Cause this war deserves a fight In the darkness here tonight And as you read this letter dear Please don?t waste too many tears Cause I?ll be back with you in time When my reasons are all gone When the enemy has failed And we finally can go home But today the fight goes on And I can?t leave them all alone In the day and night we run Beneath the moon and now the sun And I?ll come home You won?t forever be alone So as you read this letter dear Please don?t waste too many tears
  14. Most kids have a phase known as the "I'm trying to be cool so I'm listening to whatever everyone else is listening to"-phase lol I had one I'm 15 and I can say that about 98% of what I listen to is my dad's music...which is classic -- Led Zep, Eagles, Blue Oyster Cult, and so on...real music can't stand the rapping anymore -- plus, it's not allowed in my house anyway... Hmm lol
  15. lol hey well a couple of them are local bands so unless you live around the NYC area, it wouldn't make sense if you'd heard of them. Cake is a California band, not too popular but a unique sound that I love - lol I'd check these guys out, though I doubt you would be able to find Rockets & Cars too easily without buying their CD.
