Happy to Give by Journey A song for the singer One book of dreams Take this heartache Away from me -
I'm thinking of bands that made several excellent albums in a row. I'm counting studio albums only, since you'd expect greatest hits and live albums to be good. For instance, Styx's string of multi-platinum albums The Grand Illusion, Pieces of Eight, Cornerstone and Paradise Theater. Before that, Equinox and Crystal Ball were both great, so I'd give them credit for six in a row. Kilroy Was Here was the streak-ender. Journey made some great music from Infinity through Frontiers (five albums). Raised on Radio, while it has some good songs, just doesn't measure up. Rush's first eight albums (Rush through Moving Pictures) all rock. For Rush, Signals was the sub-par follow-up. (And I think Signals is a good album, but compared to the ones that came before....) Who else has had such a string?

Styx: Come Sail Away (mentioned above) as well as: Clair de Lune/Ballerina (off Crystal Ball) and various others. Elton John: just about everything, but I really like I've Seen That Movie Too.

Paint it Black! Paint it Black you devils! This list is sorely missing riffs from Journey, Rush, Deep Purple, Kiss and Styx. I'd go into further detail, but there's only so much time in the day.

Van Morrison was my first thought. But I came late to this party.

"in the motion of air caused by differences in atmospheric pressures" would be a little more accurate, methinks.

It's on Van Morrison's Greatest Hits. This song was the "A" side, with "Gloria" on the "B" side. (!)

Epic by Faith No More This Magic Moment by Jay and the Americans Looking back on these nominations, I'd have to say: now that's eclectic.

This kind of happened to me. I purchased Hold Your Fire but did not listen to it for quite awhile. Needless to say, I was blown away when I went to the concert. It's one of the best Rush albums.

Somebody (on an AOL message board) mentioned that Johnny Ramone always played downstrokes on the guitar. Wikipedia seems to confirm this. -
Could it be Time by Alan Parsons Project ? "Goodbye my love" only appears once in the song, though.

Helluva song. -
My brother is into the ApologetiX... a Christian-rock band that takes classic rock tunes (and others) and makes them into songs about Jesus.

Ray Charles Steve Perry Freddie Mercury Huey Lewis (that's right, I said it) Sam Cooke Stevie Ray Vaughn

Their list is more like "Best rockumentaries" and not "Best rock operas," "Best musicals" or "Best soundtracks" which would give different answers. SO, I'll say: I've never watched a rockumentary and have no opinion on this thread.

YouTube videos: Ain't That Just Like A Woman is a good song; I like it. Link is to a jazz version, not the rock version mentioned. Good Rockin' Tonight is alright. I could not find We're Gonna Rock We're Gonna Roll Boogie Chillen not bad. The Fat Man. I don't think having a piano as the lead instrument makes this less of a "rock" song. Lovesick Blues This song doesn't make me think "rock and roll" at all. I could not find "I want to rock and roll." But for songs from the 1940s, only missing two isn't bad.
