  1. Wounded rhymes - Lykke Li A mixture of dark and brooding, with some sexiness and unrequited love. It's quite a beautiful album which speaks of a tangled web of emotions. 4/5
  2. Fill me up with gace ~ Sophe Lux Fill me up with grace, 'cause I'm fallin' Fill me up with grace, 'cause I'm fallin' Oh, now, I'm fallin' down and I'll bury my crown Fill me up with tears and Jesus Fill me up with tears and Jesus 'Cause I could use some meaning oh and I could use some healing I found a reason today to be livin' and I found a reason why there's still light on your ancient face to the pillars of smoke through the mystical hills to your holy grace I found the answer I found the answer And you have stained my heart with the blood of a thousand rose petals
  3. Migrating my work mail from safe, reliable, stable, dependable Outlook to wacky, web-based, out of control gmail. It's fine for personal mail, but it does not cut the mustard for minute by minute professional transactions
  4. Oh boy - I'm off to the video store right now It's disappointing when you get really emotionally involved with a character in the book, and the movie just doesn't allow you to feel that connection because of the adaptation. I don't really know why they bother making movie adaptations that don't at least honour the book as much as possible I started reading a new book today, it's kinda old but it should be a decent one (it's by Minette Walters and she's usually good). We have a wash room down in the basement where we all share the machinary, and people end up taking their books down for others to read (mind, most are in Swedish )
  5. Thanks sirj9! People come back fairly regularly and I'm sure google will pick up this hit if it gets searched for again
  6. Would it be wrong if I said "Ice ice baby..."
  7. I've read through a few short stories in a compilation called "Magic for beginners" by Kelly Link and some of them are pretty good, the others are just darn weird/creepy. I also downloaded 100 free ghost stories for my phone and have been reading through them on my morning train journeys - some of them are quite old but are still creepy. I guess the slightest thing was considered scary before Hollywood came along and changed everything. One really good book I finished reading on the weekend was "The lovely bones" (Alice Sebold). I also noticed it was made into a movie - has anyone perhaps seen it? I tried to watch the movie version of one of the books I finished a few weeks ago (Runaway jury - John Grisham), and was so disappointed with the interpretation. The whole subject matter was essntially changed and the characters were nothing like described in the book. Unimpressed!
  8. I've been terrible over the last 2 years or so - not having internet at home (by choice mind you), and the convenience of Facebook on my phone have been the big ones. Also moving countries and a new job (without my boyfriend here) have been taxing on my time and energy. But I do still pop in and have a read and check the Q&A forum. I'll try be better and drop in more often just for you, Uncle
  9. I read a lot on the train to and from places (one of the best things about my iPhone). All the Douglas Adams were digital format
  10. I'm chewing through The satanic verses (it was on the bookshelf in my rented apartment). I think the only reason it won all those prizes & acclaim is for its very controversial title. It's pretty boring as a story so far, slow and the language really gets on my nerves (Rushdie is an author who occasionally likes to use colloquialisms and combines words to make something nonsensical on first pass). I've read a ton of books since moving to Sweden though: The lost symbol - Dan Brown (7/10) Life, the universe and everything else - Douglas Adams So long and thanks for all the fish - Douglas Adams The hitchhikers guide to the galaxy - Douglas Adams The restaurant at the end of the universe - Douglas Adams Dirk Gently's holistic detective agency - Douglas Adams The long, dark tea-time of the soul - Douglas Adams All a good 8/10. The curious incident of the dog in the night-time - Mark Haddon (6.5/10) The face - Dean Koontz (7/10)
  11. 7/10 I have to admit this was a guilty pleasure and I really enjoyed it! I hate that spotify greys out songs after 5 listens because I could have this on repeat all day. It's not too heavy for drum 'n bass, it's more creative than the usual Whapp whapp and had some really slow bits that lead to awesome ear blasting climaxes. Someone referred to it as sexy dubstep. I have to agree. Timestretch. Basshead. 10/10 This could play all day every day and it wouldn't be enough. It feels like being swallowed by a tsunami of sound and your ears flooding with notes and chords. The haunting and moody melodies pushed this one up to a 10 for me. Even though you're with another girl. Sycamore feeling. 8.5/10 This has been on repeat all week. It's infectious, it has Boy George and there are songs about birds. Ronson has dropped his usual sound and traded it in for something more mature and thoughtful. Bike song. Bang bang. Somebody to love me feat Boy George.
  12. Watched Seven again after a few years. It's still excellent, and still shocking. For that I shall give it an 8/10.
  13. I'm still good for something sometimes
  14. Aint that a kick in the head - Dean Martin Do you believe in heaven? - Andreas Johnson
  15. Photos or it didn't happen! I'm saving up for a barbecue later on, so it's jalapeño humous on brown toast with some grapefruit juice. I have no idea why it is called grapefruit when it has nothing to do with grapes and obviously is a fruit. No one walks around saying orangefruit or watermelonfruit. That would just be lame.
  16. "Name someone who has a scar on their face?" Joaquin Phoenix (cleft palate surgery) Name a movie that is universally loved.
  17. "Loud and clear" - The Cranberries "Where did all the love go?" - Kasabian
  18. We went and saw Rio last night and it was absolutely fabulous! It really was the lift we needed with being so down lately, and it was spectacular in 3D and well worth it.
  19. Unless Justin Mendell is still alive (and kicking my kneecaps - which he aint, rest his soul), then I wasn't sure (or where the hotlinked image of Mickey Rooney fit in to the reply post)... Enough hijacking the thread and back to the game then! Pete Best is still about! How about Captain Beefheart?
