  2. Ah. If this is the sort of music, then you'd also like War, Malo, Los Lobos, Los Lonely Boys, and a lot of Freestyle artists like Johnny O, Timmy T, Expose, Safire, and The Covergirls
  3. "Simon Says" by Chayanne "No Controles" by Flans "Subidon" by Fey "Nena" by Miguel Bose Before I keep going, what kind of tone are you looking for? 'Cause you could do just as well and get some Gypsy Kings and listen to some real spanish-sounding Flamenco music :guitar: Or you could get some Vicente Fernandez and listen to Mariachi. There's also Juan Luis Guerra Y El Grupo 440 who sing Bachata music. Salsa and other tropical music from bands like Sonora Dinamita. You could even venture into Tex-Mex and Nortenyo music, but you gotta have an iron stomach to listen to something that heavy in accordions and tone-deaf vocals There's so many ways to go from here... I only gave you songs that are in spanish, but are pop songs.
  4. Nash Kato RAWKS! I think he still records, but as a solo artist.
  5. They never broke up. The lead guitarist and songwriter committed suicide They're still around and toured California lately... I like Rialto. They only had two albums as well. I don't think they ever broke up, but it seems as if they weren't fated to become huge.
  6. I think Tito Puente is one of the best persecutionists that ever lived. Right up there with conga champion, Chaino
  7. Sabu? Leo Dan? Los Iracundos? Amanda Miguel? My current return to the ol skool is Diego Verdaguer. "Volvere"
  8. Nah. Joy Division is it. NewOrder covers up their Proustian sadness with upbeat muzak

    Dreams

This is rife with double entendres. Reminds me of the phone call Humbert was making where he heard "Lo" was getting her cavity filled by her dentist Get this, it happened again. I had another lucid dream whereupon I realized I was dreaming and tested it by jumping really high to and touching the ceiling. I began to lose control of the dream when I began to "float" upside down and the roof caved in to darkness. This is where I forced myself to wake up, but right before that I let myself sink just a little into the dream and I could feel my sleep paralysis and my controlled breathing. Once I began to breathe faster is when I woke up and my paralysis faded. If I can control my breathing just right I can actually enter into a dream state almost conscious and feel my body go into sleep paralysis. It used to frighten me because I feel "heavier." As I go deeper into a dream, I start to "sink into the bed" and down I go to have a lucid dream
  10. Before there was The Killers, before Franz Ferdinand, probably even before Ladytron, there was The Faint Listen up, boppers. Here is something you all might like: You kids might like this

HAaa :: I read it as "wet" not "weird" A.D.I.D.A.S.
  12. I believe it comes from the unplugged show from MTV, so it's probably Silvertone. In his shows, the guys join in sometimes to sing back up :guitar: They also play some wicked rad cowbell!
  13. We need to get this one as Songfacts' choice number 2 "Quiet Life" by Japan

    Open Water

Just be ready of 2 hours of watching two people float This one ranks one or two steps above The Brown Bunny in time consumption leading to the inevitable climax

  16. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005S84M.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg Quite possibly, the album that began the New Romantic movement as we know it now. Quiet Life came out in 1979 and already sounded like a slick version of what The Human League were making around the same time. This was a couple of years before Duran Duran, one year before Visage, and around the same time as OMD's first single, "Electricity." Still, this was an entire album! Noone in the same genre had done this! With tracks like "Quiet Life," "Fall In Love With Me," "Halloween," "The Other Side Of Life," and a great cover of The Velvet Underground's "All Tomorrow's Parties," Japan had set themselves up as the breakthrough band of the 80s by arriving before the genre was solidified by other acts emulating their style. They set the standard, they raised the bar, the polished and perfected New Romantic before there even was such a term ::
  17. I don't like Kevin Spacey. He's one step below the annoyance level of Robin Williams. Quite unfunny too...
  18. Duran Duran's self-titled debut is eons ahead of anything The Killers could ever muster - or any band of to-day, for that matter. Nothing will ever beat "Planet Earth," "Late Bar," "Khanada," "Careless Memories" and the rest of those songs. The entire album was timbral perfection and one of the best from the 80s. Try again If you like The Killers, you guys should also listen to The Bravery's new single, "Unconditional"
  19. Used to...? I think American Pie ruined that song, but there'll always be "Say Something"
  20. Maize... they call it "corn" I like corn tamales. They're pretty schweet
  21. I like the sound of this song Song starts automatically when you click
  22. I was gonna go with "Dos Equis," but decided to have another one while I was registering :beer-emoticon:
  23. You can't get better than Martin L. Gore's cover of Tuxedomoon's "In A Manner Of Speaking" from his 1988 e.p., Counterfeit. That e.p. also has "A Smile In The Crowd" originally done by The Durutti Column I can post the songs later on for you to listen to them, but it'll have to be around Monday Meanwhile, you can look up the lyrics and see for yourself if they're the kinds of songs you're looking for.
  24. I had the video for "Nobody's Diary". She was kinda stocky-looking, but her later pictures show an Alf that aged like fine wine Vince Clarke played keytar in that vid :guitar:
