Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 And to be honest I think that is what turned me off to him back then, how he behaved. Not that I'm an angel, but there was something, guess he kind of creeped me out. But I had friends who digged his music.
Rayzor Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 April Wine should be inducted (if they aren't already). I don't really pay attention to everyone who makes it in...
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 First page of this post has list of inductees my Dear Ray, and they are not on there...along with many others who are overdue.
Rayzor Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I tried to get that page, but it takes this @%*$%%&$ computer 1/2 an hour to load the stupid page! :beady: But I still say April Wine belongs cuz they have a TON of cool tunes and they lasted since the late 70's into the 90's. They still rock now, just a little less (they are getting old after all!) My fave tunes: (no special order) Oowatanite Say Hello Weeping Widow Just Between You And Me Roller I Like To Rock Enough Is Enough among others... I could go all day!
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 They do have some great stuff, I will have to play some on my show tomorrow. Been awhile...
Rayzor Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 I think they're one of the more under-rated bands... IMO
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Oh most definatley, I love their stuff have for years. And I think they kind of got lost in the suffle of things along the way with rock music.
Rayzor Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Well... there's only one Canadian band allowed to be famous at one time! The Guess Who were finishing up when Rush came out... April Wine had to stay at the back of the crowd!
Tenacious_Peaches Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Yes, you may get a witness, Master Sir bazooka. Jane, I can just see you getting down with your bad self to "Give It To Me, Baby". And I love me some Teena Marie, too. I wanted a nose ring so I could be like her, before it was cool to shove needles in your face. And to keep this on track, I don't think either one of them should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Peaches Music Hall of Fame, perhaps.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 Peaches, I bet back in the day when I use to go out dancing, I probably danced to Rick James...little fuzzy from those times...but he is not someone I wanted to listen to on a regular basis. My one friend was really into him, but I was a P-Funk chick and got down listening to them a lot...
bazooka Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 And to keep this on track, I don't think either one of them should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The Peaches Music Hall of Fame, perhaps. Are they to be shunned on the basis of longevity, insufficient bodies of work, conduct unbecoming a Rock & Roller? Or are you saying "Funk ain't Rock"? I have a different opinion. [smallest] There is not any structure large enough to house The bazooka Music Hall of Fame [/smallest].
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 (edited) Peachy, Earth Wind & Fire made it in...so...I could see Rick James based on his mark in music...but not Teena Marie. Also P-Funk made it... Edited October 16, 2007 by Guest forgot P-Funk
bazooka Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 Also P-Funk made it... [smallest]Edited by Sweet Jane 61 on 10/16/07 11:08 AM. Reason for edit: forgot P-Funk[/smallest] I put George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic on my 'oughta be' list. Somehow I didn't see they 's already inducted.
Sweet Jane 61 Posted October 16, 2007 Author Report Posted October 16, 2007 p Earl Palmer Parliament-Funkadelic Les Paul Carl Perkins Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Sam Phillips Wilson Pickett Pink Floyd Gene Pitney The Platters The Police Doc Pomus Elvis Presley The Pretenders Lloyd Price Prince Professor Longhair They made it in...1997 P-Funk Induction
Batman Posted October 16, 2007 Report Posted October 16, 2007 When is a band eligible to be in the hall? I used to know, but I've forgotten. Isn't it something like 20 years after their debut album?
c_s_1987 Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Peter Andre Peter Andre should be in the R'R HoF. I am kidding. Couldn't resist.
Steel2Velvet Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Are NKOTB eligible? Followed soon by the Bay City Rollers.
blue_n_white Posted October 17, 2007 Report Posted October 17, 2007 Followed soon by the Bay City Rollers. Who could ever forget "SA-TUR-D-A-Y NIGHT!"? Lyrics like those have to get them in the hall.
Super Ry 71 Posted October 18, 2007 Report Posted October 18, 2007 Who could ever forget "SA-TUR-D-A-Y NIGHT!"? Lyrics like those have to get them in the hall. Yeah, much more average than your average pop hook!
skybluesky Posted October 26, 2007 Report Posted October 26, 2007 Jim Croce I got up out of bed to add him to my list. Jim Croce should absolutely be in the H o F
Sweet Jane 61 Posted March 6, 2008 Author Report Posted March 6, 2008 With the induction ceremony this weekend I was thinking that my special of the week next Friday will be artists who should be in the hall of fame. Came up with a good list from comments in this thread and a few that weren't mentioned.... STEVIE NICKS BAD COMPANY BOSTON THE CARS DIRE STRAITS DOOBIE BROTHERS ELO ...if they were mentioned, sorry I scrolled through this pretYy quick.
blue_n_white Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 Oh goodie!! This thread is alive again!! And all of the artists mentioned by Jane deserve consideration.
