Foolonthehill
I've been listening to a lot of prog rock recently so I just thought I'd ask "Keith Emerson or Rick Wakeman?"
Jim in Pa
Not vote-worthy... Both were very inovative... Emerson was one of the first to utilize occilators, Wakeman took off with that technology and ran with the advent of the "mini moog".... c_s_1987
I had to vote for Wakeman - for now. I haven't really heard enough from Keith Emerson to judge his ability. Rick Wakeman is awesome, though.
Foolonthehill
I find that in terms of playing both are techinically excellent, however I prefer Emerson's style and writing. Wakeman did some pretty great stuff on Close To The Edge though. Edited October 3, 2007 by Guest
edna
Wakeman also did that trippy album, "The Six Wives of Henry VII"... it was a must by the early seventies. He was a wizard... Somehow I respect more Emerson. Like he wasn´t such a star. I admire both of them.
MuzikTyme
One of my all time favourite keyboard pieces is the intro to Wakeman's Merlin the Magician. Sadly, I can't find the intro but the clip here will give a notion as to why I voted for him. His timeless, medieval sound is only surpassed by his lightning quick fingers. edna
"The Six Wives of Henry VII"... "VII"?? Only "VII"? I meant "VIII", obviously...
CanAm
Emerson was/is good but Wakeman is brilliant. One of his best albums was Criminal Record. The pipe organ on some of the tunes sends shivers up my spine.
