blind-fitter
Same here.... My view of the 60s is limited by the fact that I've only recently given that decade's music any attention at all, apart from The Kinks, Small Faces and Jamaican ska music. Apart from that I tend to like the cheesey oddball stuff thrown up by that era. So... 60s The Kinks Scott Walker Os Mutantes The 70s is a problem too, since many of my favourite bands came late in the decade and spilled over into the 80s. So, what to do? 70s The Jam The Ruts Public Image Limited 80s Killing Joke Rudimentary Peni Big Black Sonic Youth Or Husker Du. Are The Butthole Surfers 80s or 90s? I think they straddle the cusp of the decades... Similarly Sonic Youth. Come to think of it, my third nomination should really be Sonic Youth. 90s The Auteurs PJ Harvey Eels Yet I have half a dozen Alice Donut albums, all (but one)of which I love, so how can I leave them out... 2000s Gold Blade The Dresden Dolls The Kills (or should it be Queens Of the Stone Age, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, or maybe even The Arctic Monkeys, etc, etc.)
Batman
I feel your pain, I wasn't sure if I should include Nick Drake in the 60's or 70's.
c_s_1987
50's 1. Chuck Berry 2. Elvis Presley 3. Eddie Cochran 60's 1. The Rolling Stones 2. The Beatles 3. Cream 70's 1. Led Zeppelin 2. Pink Floyd 3. The Who 80's 1. Cold Chisel 2. Guns N' Roses 3. Queen 90's 1. Oasis 2. U2 3. Pearl Jam 00's 1. Powderfinger 2. Jet 3. Red Hot Chili Peppers This was hard, except for the #1s of the 80s and 00s. I would have probably put Powderfinger at #2 for the 90s if I hadn't decided not to put the same bands in two decades. c_s_1987
I don't like the Chili Peppers enough to make the top 3 for the 80s or 90s, but the 00s is a different story. I like their 90s releases slightly better than their 00s releases, but in the 90s they were competing against more great bands IMO.
