dmeador
I was wondering if anyone could tell me of a song to fit, or get close to, my situation. I have been with this girl for 2 years, and she is completely in love with me, and is convinced that we will get married. I love her but don't think the love I have for her is one that will carry on for the rest of my life. I know that it will absolutly devestate her when I tell her. I keep putting it off because I know it will kill her, and me as well, but I have to do it. I'm looking for I sad song, and also the piano always gets to me. Thanks Edited May 1, 2007 by Guest
johnnyguitar
the piano always gets to me. You've gotta run away with the piano...follow your heart. Me, I prefer girls, but, hey, it takes all sorts.

Elvish
Hmmm...maybe "Sometimes Love Just Ain't Enough" by Don Henley and Patty Smyth? Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) by Green Day might fit as well. No piano in either, though. Let me think on it a while, I might have more... Bucksfan_Margo
Well since you want a sad song, then you should probably go for "Love of my Life" - Jim Brickman if you don't care, then use this song (best for your situation) "Breaking up is hard to do" - Neil Sekada (sp?) TheLizard
Something soft that will put her to sleep so you can run like hell should work well.
blind-fitter
I've always found "You've Lost That Loving Feeling " very poignant. The Human League's version, (the b-side of "Empire State Human") is surprisingly stirring, when it comes to those "Is it all over?" moments. I tend to think that anyone who is planning to dump somebody who thinks she's in love with him and has the impression they have a long future together by "playing her a significant song" probably deserves whatever crap johnny (or anyone else) sends their way. But that's just me....

Elvish
A few more: Sad Eyes ~ The Bee Gees Kiss and Say Goodbye ~ The Manhattans Wasting My Time ~ Default I Will Remember You ~ Sara McLachlan I Will Always Love You ~ Whitney Houston A Bad Goodbye Clint Black duet with Wynonna I've been bound to leave you, we've known that for awhile I'm sure it's something I can't do if I can't leave you with a smile I don't know how far I'll have to go 'til I'm sure those eyes won't cry And in my mind I've left enough to know that I can't leave you With a bad goodbye Goodbye, easier said than done Goodbye, there's no good when you're the one Whose goodbye you swore would never come And in my goodbye you're finding none I'm still bound to leave you, I surely don't know how My heart won't let me put you through What my mind says should happen now I don't know where we'll go from here, there may be no way to fly And the cloud I'm in just makes it all too clear that I can't leave you With a bad goodbye Goodbye, easier said than done Goodbye, there's no good when you're the one Whose goodbye you swore would never come And in my goodbye you're finding none How can we be so far between where we are and one more try And any way I look, I've only seen that I can't leave you With a bad goodbye
edna
Bob Seger´s "The Famous Final Scene" Think in terms of bridges burned Think of seasons that must end See the rivers rise and fall They will rise and fall again Everything must have an end Like an ocean to a shore Like a river to a stream Like a river to a stream Its the famous final scene And how you tried to make it work Did you really think it could How you tried to make it last Did you really think it would Like a guest who stayed too long Now its finally time to leave Yes, its finally time to leave Take it calmly and serene Its the famous final scene Its been coming on so long You were just the last to know Its been a long time since youve smiled Seems like oh so long ago Now the stage has all been set And the nights are growing cold Soon the winter will be here And theres no one warm to hold Now the lines have all been read And you knew them all by heart Now you move toward the door Here it comes the hardest part Try the handle of the road Feeling different feeling strange This can never be arranged As the light fades from the screen From the famous final scene

You know what pianos and women have in common? When they're not upright, they're grand.

johnnyguitar
I've always found "You've Lost That Loving Feeling " very poignant. The Human League's version, (the b-side of "Empire State Human") is surprisingly stirring, when it comes to those "Is it all over?" moments. A good song if you are blaming the other person for their inability to cope with your moody inabilty to converse....a mean trick if it is you who are confused and off screwing someone else (believe me)....try Wayne County's classic......look it up for yourself. If, however, you are in the classic position of being 'Torn Between Two Lovers' do not, on any account use the song of the same name...it does not work...believe me, I know. Try something more 'post modern' such as.... "La Cienega Just Smiled" "Ah the night...here it comes again" It's on with the jeans, the jacket and the shirt How'd I end up feeling so bad For such a little girl And I hold you close in the back of my mind Feels so good but damn it makes me hurt And I'm too scared to know to how I feel about you now La Cienega just smiles..."see ya around" And I hold you close in the back of my mind And raise my glass 'cause either way I'm dead Neither of you really help me to sleep anymore One breaks my body and the other breaks my soul La Cienega just smiles as it waves goodbye "Ah the night...here it comes again" It's off with the jeans, the jacket and the shirt How'd I end up feeling so bad For such a little girl And I hold you close in the back of my mind Feels so good but damn it makes me hurt And I'm too scared to know how I feel about you now How I feel about you now La Cienega just smiles and says, "I'll see you around" Either way...they'll be confused and you can make your getaway in a smokescreen of sensitive insensitivity....
