Batman
this thread is for teenaged songfactors. what songs do you think are the anthems for our generation? not necessarily the best songs, but the songs that unite us and such? The only one I can think of Sandstorm.

Farin
the only "Sandstorm" I know is by Darude... do you mean that? I didn't know you listened to such music...
Blue Fish
Whos/whats Sandstorm? I thought they only occured in a desert place???
Levis
I know Darude too... I quite like that one. But it's not something you can listen to over and over.
TheLizard
I don't think we have one. There's such a diverse selection of musical tastes among our generation, there could never be one song that we can all relate too.
Batman
Yeah, I'm talking about Sandstorm by Darude, it's a terrible song, and is the kind of song that gives everyone the wrong idea about electronic music, but it seems to really unite us all on the dancefloor, because it's dance is so easy to do. TheLizard
Oh, now I know what you're talking about. I certainly hope that's not how we're remembered...
Batman
I hope we're remembered for the "ideals" of Sandstorm, and not the song itself (because it sucks!)
TheLizard
What are the ideals? That there are songs that even white people can dance to?
Foolonthehill
The excess of bad rap and songs with stupid liyrics like "My Humps" has driven me to listen to the music of other generations.
Batman
"My Humps" has driven me to find good music from this generation that isn't played on the radio. Kind of like how listening to the Eagles drove me to listen to bands like the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Haha, Lizard, the ideal to Sandstorm is unity. Seriously, that's the only song at dances that everyonedances to, because you don't have to be good at dancing, you just have to jump around and push people. Through all the individuality in high school, there's still unity, and it's found in Sandstorm, so that's why it's our anthem. I was also considering "Hey Ya" but it can't be our anthem because my mom likes it.
Foolonthehill
Who is Sandstorm by? I searched it on Limwire and a whole bunch of stuff came up.
Batman
Sandstorm is by Darude, it's actually a TERRIBLE song, and it embellishes every weak point of dance/house music, but that doesn't matter, it unites us.
TheLizard
What about something by Green Day? I'm not a particularly big fan, but they're decent, and I'm sure they have something we can pick out to represent us better than really bad electronica. And for those who are still wondering what Sandstorm is, it's the song that the caveman dances to in this pretty funny SNL sketch. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE1I7cTJlnE
Batman
I'm not sure if Green Day has any songs that unite us.
TheLizard
I don't know, whenever there's an event for people our age that could possibly involve reminiscing "Good Riddance" is played. It's probably my least favorite Green Day song, but it's better than Sandstorm...
