bazooka
The 'scatter shot' approach isn't working. At a time in the early 60s when a record by this artist reached #2 in the U.S Hot 100, it was held out of the #1 spot by a song he had written performed other artists. [smaller]another hint: He is also known for singing a couple of movie title songs. Neither was written by him, and one wasn't even used in the film due to a publishing dispute.[/smaller]

bazooka
You got it, Brad! Pitney wrote and Phil Spector produced He's A Rebel credited to The Crystals, but recorded by The Blossoms. It beat out Pitney's biggest US hit, the Burt Bacharach-Hal David song Only Love Can Break A Heart.
Brad_M
This U.S. hit song by a rock singer/songwriter tells the story of a man who will soon be coming home from his stay at a sanatorium and he's afraid that his wife may not feel the same about him as she did before.
