Judo
I think I'm getting too old for this. I can only see 6 songs I'll definitely vote for so far. Let's hope we get some more good nominations (not that the ones we have already aren't - it's just that I don't know a lot of them). Also, in the spirit of the Top Ten, please note that if you nominate you are expected to vote too ! We've had a couple of people drop in with nominations, and even though I PT'd them they didn't bother voting. I'm beginning to feel the same, wondering if I would vote for just the few I knew and 'pass' the remainder of the ten votes. Thank you Kevin. Both your nominations get my votes. The Last Farewell - A distinctive song by a distinctive artist.
OLD 55
I'm beginning to feel the same, wondering if I would vote for just the few I knew and 'pass' the remainder of the ten votes. Please don't do that Judo, as it throws out our Voting system. Just vote for the Artists like some of the youngsters do ! Too easy; vote for mine. "Joy To The World" is "Jeremiah was a bullfrog, he was a good friend of mine; I never understood a word he said, but I helped him drink his wine" and you'd know "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" "You are the sunshine of my life Thats why I'll always be around, You are the apple of my eye, Forever youll stay in my heart"
Judo
In the previous top ten I voted for Because just because it was a Beatles song even though I had never heard the song before. I do this to favour KNOWN artists but whose songs I don't know / have never heard. I was so undecided on the votes that I messed up my top ten as Lizard so kindly pointed out. Following results of the last top ten our dear Edna sent me the MP3 of Because. Trust me OLD55, after hearing Because I regretted voting for it, even though it made the top ten! I do realise how you feel on how this affects the voting process but how can I just vote for a song/artist I know nothing about. It's even worse to nominate and then quit voting. What most of the nominators do not know is that I am at a disadvantage I do not have access to music/video sites which are blocked here at my end - company server. It will take some time before I settle down with a more permanent residence and buy a home PC again and once more be able to effectively sample new music. Edited November 1, 2006 by Guest added .... messed up ....
Judo
I do not know who is the original singer of "You are the sunshine of my life", nor whose version/cover I first heard. Stevie Wonder, unfortunately, is not one of my favourite artists. Having said that your nomination will surely get my vote - I just love the song. I don't think I know your other nomination. Don't be surprised; I surprise myself. I did'nt know Lou Christie until last week !!
OLD 55
Do you know the U.K. Group Blue Mink Judo ? They did an excellent cover of it. For some reason their great anti-racism song "Melting Pot" never became a Hit in the U.S., even though their lead singer, Madeline Bell, was from there. She probably packed up and left the U.S. after her original of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" only reached #26 in the U.S., while it was covered by The Supremes and The Temptations (together) later that year (1968) and became a million seller for them. My friend, I'm just joking when I say "vote for mine". Please don't do so unless you really like them.
Judo
Nope, sorry OLD 55 I do not know Blue Mink. You guys really do know a lot of bands and artists. I feel so sheepish. Joking or not (You are the sunshine of my life), artist apart, the song deserves a vote !
Dappled
Well, I love the Beatles' song, and I dig the Stones', but I'm saving my #1 until someone nominates Tell Me, Congratulations, Time is on my side, or Little Red Rooster. The Animals have had only 2 songs nominated before, so don't tell me you are running out of songs to nominate!
OLD 55
I could nominate a 1,000 songs right now. Imagination is one thing I'm not short of. P.S. Little Red Rooster is my 3rd all time favorite Stones' song behind Satisfaction and Paint It Black. THAT reminds me - I'm supposed to nominate 2 Bob Dylan songs for Namahage; he PT'd me at the weekend because he's away for a few days. ................................................. Oh gee ! I've deleted his PT. One of them was "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright". But I forget the other one. Sorry Greg. I'll pick one I like. NAMAHAGE'S NOMINATIONS: Don't Think Twice It's Alright - Bob Dylan Knockin' On Heaven's Door - Bob Dylan Now I've had FAR too much to say this Top Ten, so I'll just allow myself to fade to anonymity now. (As if....I'd talk under wet cement, with a mouthful of it).
edna
I'm saving my #1 until someone nominates Tell Me Whaaaat?? I still didn´t nominate "Tell Me", one of the best Stones songs ever?? I might nominate it very soon...
Dappled
Oh, I didn't mean you, Darryl. BTW, make that 4 Animals songs, 2 were nominated with Eric Burdon & The Animals.
Kevin
I think I just have to get off my lazy butt and do a little research of past charts , etc. for some inspiration or ideas . Ideally , I like to nominate new ones we haven't had before , so I guess I'm just a bit sad that I'm running short of these songs that I could quickly nominate off the top of my head . But you're right Darryl , there are some beauty renoms that should get another chance or two .
OLD 55
That's fine Dappled. I'd better try to catch Tell Me, edna. I don't even know it ! Kevin, I reckon you'll have a Top Ten with I Can't Help Myself. Funny, I thought I'd nominated that before - must have been on my Lista, so you've got my vote. Goodnight All ! Early night tonight. I might just go and read a book for our Anniversary.

Farin
I think I'm getting too old for this. I can only see 6 songs I'll definitely vote for so far. Let's hope we get some more good nominations (not that the ones we have already aren't - it's just that I don't know a lot of them). that's quite normal for me... okay 6 is a bit extreme, but on a normal, regular Top Ten there are usually about 15-20 songs that I recognize and 10-15 that I like enough to put in the Ten I try to look some songs up on youtube, where I know the artist, but not the song, but of course I have neither the time, nor the patience to do that for all 60 songs... PS I'm glad we have some more 90's songs this time, from the decade which is terribly underrated, imho ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PPS Voting starts in 6 hours
