c_s_1987
Here's something interesting I read about The Who, written in 1987, from the book "The Story Of Rock 'N' Roll" by Pete Fornatale: "In 1982 the group announced their farewell tour of North America. The final performance took place on December 17, 1982, in Toronto, Canada. And while there certainly will be continuing solo efforts by the group's individual members, and maybe even an occasional, rare reunion for charitable purposes (Live Aid), one unforgettable, irreplaceable era in rock 'n' roll history had come to an end." 24 years after the "farewell tour", they are still touring and recording singles. While they haven't released an album in that period (according to Wikipedia), their new album is coming soon. Can you think of any other very inaccurate predictions of the future of music? PSYCHOcatholic
They've been saying Elvis is coming back for years and years...uhh, where is he? Not that i care or anything.... But hey, if he does come back, he'd be alot more entertaining as a fat old man doing his songs, he would make a killing in Vegas...
Ombre Vivante
Gee, I wonder who could've said this: "I'd rather be dead than singing 'Satisfaction' when I'm forty-five." It couldn't possibly be the carcass of Mick Jagger who is still been wheeled on stage.
edna
"The guitar is fine, John, but you´ll never make a living out of it". Or something like that.
The Seeker
Same group -- "Guitar groups are out of fashion now". Or something similar.
katie_sane
^^ That one is Decca Records rejecting the Beatles: ""We don't like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out." Edited September 11, 2006 by Guest

Otokichi
Speaking of a certain California band, Hell freezes over regularly. One thing that makes things very chilly is their $250 and higher ticket prices. At least Billy Joel isn't that much of a money eating machine, charging a mere $65 or $90 for his December 16th gig in Honolulu.
