Foxy Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 There's a song that I have been meaning to ask about for ages now, I know hardly anything about it - - from the 90's/00's (i think) - lyrics include 'all that glitters is gold' I know it isn't the following - Led Zep, Smash Mouth, Prince, or Death In Vegas Please make ANY suggestions and I will listen to each one and let you know the outcome!
Earth-Angel Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Was it quite a well known or popluar song? I can't think of anything except the obvious Smashmouth which is already out of the picture. I'll have another scratch around google.
Brad_M Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 Foxy, Here's 2 songs that I found with that line for you to take a look at: Rainbirds - "Now And Then" from 1997 album "Forever" Gavin Friday - "King Of Trash" from 1992 album "Adam 'n' Eve"
Shawna Posted November 12, 2005 Report Posted November 12, 2005 There's a song called "The Bitter Pill" by Warrant that contains a line which says "All that glitters isn't gold." ??
Foxy Posted November 13, 2005 Author Report Posted November 13, 2005 (edited) I don't think it's any of those ones, but thanks for the suggestions. Bear in mind I've not heard this song for a few years, so my recollection may not be totally correct! I'm so vague on this one - it's a man singing, and I remember throughout the song there are some 'twinkly' noises (know what I mean??) It may not be a really recent song, but it certainly sounds as if it is within the last ten-fifteen years or so. It was played on our local radio station, so I'm guessing it must have been in the charts at some point, although I could be wrong on that too EDIT: It isn't Le Tigre either (that song just plain scared me!) Levis Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 What did it sound like genrewise? Pop, rock, hip-hop...?
edna Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Vixen "Streets in paradise" have "all that glitters in´t gold". Of course, you don´t mean Bob Marley´s "get up, stand up"?
Earth-Angel Posted November 13, 2005 Report Posted November 13, 2005 Yeah, I too found a lot of matches with "all that glitters isn't gold" too, but nothing in the positive besides the bands already mentioned. I'll ask around
Ed24345 Posted December 6, 2005 Report Posted December 6, 2005 I don't know of any resant rock song's w/those lyrics, but there is a song that was mostly played as Country but was also played on Pop stations by Dan Seals called 'Everything that glitters (is not gold).
kimmmie Posted December 13, 2005 Report Posted December 13, 2005 Could it be a country song by the Gatlin Brothers All the Gold in California? At the end of the chorus it has "All that glitters is not gold" I've never heard it on a pop station thou
