_jr_
Anybody want to play? There's about a month until kickoff. I can start a league if nobody else wants to do it, but if someone else wants to be commissioner, by all means, go ahead. We need to think about getting it started, so we can hammer out how we want to score the league.
RonJonSurfer
If you look at the messages on the fantasy baseball site, it appears somebody started a league for us already. Check it out...I will be in it..

Kevin
Ok , Jr , since you set up the baseball , I set up a football : Regular Fantasy Football # 462353 / Password : Carl ( sorry ! ) Unlike the regular rotisserie leagues , I've opted for having 2 defensive players on the squad as well . Here are some choices I've made , open for debate , of course . Kevin
For those who haven't played this game before , I would say that it is much less maintenance and hastle than baseball , requiring , at the very least , only that you check in on your team once a week ( before Sun. /Mon . ) to be sure you are not playing injured players or players whose teams are not playing that week ... much easier ! An added element of fun , is that your team actually 'plays' a selected opponent rather than simply focusing on totalling up points. As in real football , during the playoffs , ( weeks 14-17 ) ,a generally weak team can surprise and knock out a better one much easier , if luck goes your way ! Everyone has a fighting chance . Kevin
All right , JR ! If you have the time ( cough ) take a look at the points chart , I'd appreciate input from one and all . I've played 2 seasons ( regular rotisserie ) and was pumped to see that we can add defensive players , so this adds an element I've never thought about ... I would guess , that one would want a hot linebacker and cornerback ... but .. well , check it out .
Lucky
ok I'll give it a shot. I certainly can't do any worse than baseball. I figure I'll never learn unless I try. Plus I need things to fill my excess time! The nice thing is It apparently doesn't need as much attention.

_jr_
Not to pick nits, but 6 for throwing a TD seems like a lot. Your QB is scoring a touchdown without leaving the backfield. He's already getting points for yardage and completions. I would also ditch the points per completion and -points per incompletion. And I've always been a firm believer that a FG is 3, regardless of distance. Don't get me wrong, I can live with any scoring system that's in place. I've been in a league for 10 years, and we've evolved since year one.
_jr_
By the way....I'm calling you out Sammy. Come play football. Oh, and before the draft even takes place, I've already excluded Michael Vick from my draft list. The most overrated QB since Cunningham.
Kevin
Ok ! Thanks to all who have signed up so quickly -- 0nly 2 spots left . I know we're all eager to get our players , but I think it may be better to wait a bit longer to try and get those spots filled rather than draft early with only 8 teams -- more competition will make the league a bit more challenging . Tentatively , I've been thinking of the ~ 25th for a deadline. Comments ? I imagined that football was going to be a little tougher to fill , so, by all means , send a PM or two to try and solicit those last 2 players !! Thanks for the point revision suggestions , JR . I'm considering doing all of , or partly, what you've suggested ... any others ?
_jr_
I just have a few questions. Defensive scoring....is that for your individual D players, or the whole unit? Actually...I guess that's only one question. Come on, two more players.
Kevin
From what I've intended to make , the defensive scoring is thus : 1 Whole team ( ie. Pittsburg ): Sack (1) Interception (2) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Block Kick (2) Kickoff and Punt Return Touchdowns (6) Points Allowed 0 points (15) Points Allowed 1-6 points (10) Points Allowed 7-13 points (6) Points Allowed 14-20 points (3) Points Allowed 21-27 points (0) Points Allowed 28-34 points (-1) Points Allowed 35+ points (-3) 2 Defensive players ( from any of the teams ) : Tackle solo (1 ) Tackle Assist (0.33) Sack (3) Interception (2) Fumble Force (1) Fumble Recovery (2) Touchdown (6) Safety (2) Pass Defended (0.5) Block Kick (2) The reason I've chosen only 2 players is that , on a personal level ,it is a category I've never played before ( more stats to consider etc . ) , and secondly , defensive players are less well known to me ( and perhaps others ), and most of the Yahoo info. is about offensive players . However , if a few others like the idea , I'll gladly change it .
Kevin
Scoring update : I made a few little changes to the scoring based on some input ( thanks ) . Still no luck in finding 2 more ? If we can't get them , I will revise the playoffs to 4 teams playing in weeks 15 and 16 . ****** most notable are : ****************************** - QB gets 3 rather than 6 for TD pass ( he's only part of the effort ) . Still 6 for a rushing TD , though . QBs need 30 yard completions for a point instead of 50. - Completions : All Receivers/ RBs can get 1/2 point per completion - def allowing over 27 and 35 points more penalized ( -3 and -5 ) - Field goals under 30 yards missed : -1 Comments ? Kevin
Sorry , Sammy , couldn't get in to the site for awhile now ! Should be later this evening or tomorrow . Sadly , we've had the Southern Rockers drop out , as well . There are only seven teams presently , so the last chance to recruit (blackmail ) others into playing is today , I guess . If we do have seven , the playoffs will be 4 teams , in the last 2 weeks . OK , all ? *** Due to Songfacts server (? ) troubles , alternate contact with me can be through : klcra@aol.com . One team has reported account trouble with Yahoo! and requested a short draft delay . I have said that as of the time of this post the ok for the draft will be set for 27 hours from the time of this post ( edited ) . We don't want to lose another team if we can avoid it , so thanks for your patience. If I get word that all is well , I will try to up the time , and let you all know here , providing the site lets me in again . Alternatively , look for messages on the baseball message board , as it is more reliable than this site , for me , these days .
miamisammy29
I was just teasing, Dude. Draft whenever you're ready. However, a couple years back, I remember that a league I joined was wiped out because the teams weren't filled when the draft time was set. So, be cautious of this, too. Later. Kevin
Sammy , The draft has been set . Thanks for the tip ! I went back to the league immediately after seeing your post and tried to reduce the number of players from 10 to 7 , but the menu only works on even numbers ( i've reduced ours to 8 ) !?! Therefore , I'm waiting anxiously to see if all works as planned .
Kevin
This is my first post on these boards , and I'm suffering a little from sensory overload . It's like the difference between the control panels of a Cessna and a 747 ! Hope it works... The teams are ready now , and I'm sure you have all been notified by Yahoo ! by now. However, in case you haven't seen it yet , check it out , as you may want to change players, make trades , etc . Also , as time is getting quite near to opening day (Sept .6 , I believe ) , please take a look at the commisioner's note on the message boards and leave an opinion on the topic , if you wish . Kevin
Correction on opening day : It is Sept. 8 ( Oak v.s N.E ) , so be sure to have your players in place as you want them by then ( especially if you want to use players from these two teams ! ) . Also I have proposed a small point-change . See the FF site for details if you want to comment on it , or some other issues to settle before the league starts. Trades and waiver pick-ups/drops have also begun , so be sure to check if there are any moves /changes you want to make -- remember trades usually take a little time to process . Also : We have one team available for someone to take , and IMO , it's a GOOD one . If you want it , please send me a PM or post a request on this thread asap. Otherwise, we'll operate it ourselves. Lucky
Sure pick on the girl when she's not around to defend heself! I had a few minutes at the library to pick. I didn't want either of the QB I got. I thought I had things set, but was in too much of a hurry. I am no Bulger fan, at all. My own fault.
