Curious One
My nephew (12 yrs old) has a school project on tornadoes and natural disasters and needs some background music that goes along with the subject. I can think of "Against the Wind" (Segar), Hurricane (Dylan) and Who'll Stop the Rain (CCR). Can anyone help with some other song names? Thanks. Good ideas, but I'd avoid Hurricane due to some of the language issues (there are some swears and racial slurs Dylan used to make his point) and it's about the boxer who was framed for murder. bazooka
I can think of ... Hurricane (Dylan) Huh? Bob Dylan's Hurricane is about the boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter Now all the criminals in their coats and their ties Are free to drink martinis and watch the sun rise While Rubin sits like Buddha in a ten-foot cell An innocent man in a living hell. That's the story of the Hurricane, But it won't be over till they clear his name And give him back the time he's done. Put in a prison cell, but one time he could-a been The champion of the world. "Hurricane" Carter's story was the subject of the movie Hurricane starring Denzel Washington.
_jr_
Like a Hurricane-Neil Young :: Rats. I was gonna say that. How about the old Roger Miller cut "If you want me to" Thunder rollin? lightnin? flashin? But right through the middle of it I go dashin? Goes to show how far I?ll go for you If you want me to Well, hurricane winds blow grief and sorrow But I?d run through one tomorrow Goes to show how far I?ll go for you If you want me to Well, there?s no limit to What I?ll not go through for you Anything you ask of me I?ll make it my destiny Well...maybe not. Still a good song, though.

Carl
We have a category for "Songs with weather conditions in the title." You can get the link from the Songfacts of "Hurricane." A good tune for the project might be "Gimme Shelter" by The Stones. There's a lot of storm imagery and it's a great song.

shankus
No one suggested Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot?! In fact, the song is actually about a storm. It doesn't just have a "weather word" in the title...
