John Paul Jones

Hi all. I am a huge Led Zeppelin fan, and I've been thinking. Jimmy Page and John Bonham each got chances to shine with Heartbreaker, Since I've Been Lovin You, Moby Dick, Bonzo's Montreaux, etc. Some could say that Robert Plant got a chance to shine with Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. When did John Paul Jones get his chance? I mean on the bass, not the organ. Please let me know what you think. The reason I ask is because if a non-zepp-fan asks why JPJ is so great, I want to be able to point to a song or two. For now I just refer to Dazed and Confused. Help!

All these have cool bass lines:

Ramble On

Immigrant Song

The Lemon Song

The Song Remains The Same

Bring It On Home

Four Sticks

Fool In The Rain

What Is And What Should Never Be

I Can't Quit You Baby

Trampled Under Foot

Your Time Is Gonna Come

Good Times Bad Times

Whole Lotta Love (the live versions on West and The Song are pretty awesome)

HTH

If you want to find JPJ's finest moments, I would recommend the following:

Buy the box set of every album remastered.

Listen to each cd carefully, writing down every tracks name.

You now have a list of every Zep song that JPJ was brilliant on.

Hey, that's what I did smile002.gif

Haha, I'm glad other people are as big zepp-nuts as I am. I agree that he's amazing, I was just looking for songs that, you know, feature him. I almost feel bad that he's looked at as the fourth Zeppelin member. I think that his talent is vastly underrated. So I guess we decided on Dazed and Confused. Thanks guys, for your help, and keeping a smile on my face while I read all these posts.
