This is sort of relating to a recent post on "best male vocals." well a friend and i have been debating recently who has a better voice, Roger Daltrey, (of the Who), or Robert Plant, (of Led Zeppelin). All we've decided thus far is that Daltrey has more range but there's something about Plant's voice that makes you want to listen to Led Zep. What do you think?

I'd go with Plant, because I'm a biased Zep fanboy, but Daltry was a pretty good singer, just not as superior as Plant IMO. In fact I can't think of any other singer that's as first-rate as Plant.

I voted for Plant because even though I'm not a big Zeppelin fan, I like his voice. I liked "Tall Cool One" from one of his solo albums and the stuff he did with the Honeydrippers.

To me, Daltrey can sound a little whiny (ducking to avoid the blows from Who fans)

Robert Plant is one of the best in my book, not only for his unique voice, but because he uses it as an instrument. Lots of singers have a lesson or two they should learn from him.

Magnificently put.

MUSICAL INTERLUDE:

"I've got my clipboard, textbooks, lead me to the station, yeah, I'm off to the Civil War. I've got my kitbag, my heavy boots, I'm running in the rain, gonna run till my feet are raw. Slip kid, slip kid, second generation, I'm a soldier at thirteen. Slip kid, slip kid, realization, there's no easy way to be free. No easy way to be free. It's a hard, hard world."

My vote goes for Daltrey too.

Though both of their voices fit superbly within the sound of their respective groups, I prefer Daltrey's overall. It has a certain strength and stability that I enjoy in a male's voice.
