night2day Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Wow, the things one can learn from song facts! For me, what has worked for hic-coughs is: During the last one, swallow a spoon full of sugar and hold your breath as long as you can; when you exhale, just breathe normally and the hic-coughs should be gone. Well, most of the time.
Shawna Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 I don't think I've ever seen it spelled "hic-cough."
Lucky Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 Ok, here's my hiccup remedy .... take a regular pencil with an eraser, put the pencil straight back into your mouth until the eraser touches the back of your throat (don't stick the pencil down your throat!) and hold it through 1 hiccup cycle. Remove pencil, hiccups should be gone. It generally works.
night2day Posted November 1, 2011 Report Posted November 1, 2011 along the idea of Lucky's: Take a pencil and stick it in your eye, i can almost guarantee the hiccoughs will be gone because now a much more serious ailment has arisen.
RockyRaccoon Posted November 2, 2011 Report Posted November 2, 2011 This works 100% of the time: Take a fork, or some other kind of sliver ware, place it across your mouth and drink a glass of water (or any liquid really). Works every time.
Shawna Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 has anyone mentioned the ol' scare tactic? All you gotta do is get Sammy to sneak into town, sneak up behind you and say [biggest]WHERE'S MY LUNCH MONEY?!?!?[/bIGGEST] That oughta do it.
edna Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 How's your hiccup doing, UncleJoe? I guess it's gone by now...
Uncle Joe Posted November 9, 2011 Author Report Posted November 9, 2011 edna, I have been hiccup-free for five days now. I finally feel safe saying it. It was 2 1/2 weeks of hell.
edna Posted November 10, 2011 Report Posted November 10, 2011 wow, I'm happy to know it's gone... I know sometimes it can last for long... Now it time for things to be fantastic for you!!!!!!!!
Earth-Angel Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Hiccough's? I thought only old people said that lol I'm just glad Uncle is feeling better and is hiccup-free I worry when friends are sick/unwell, especially when there are hospitals involved at any point.
