edna Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 So has everyone over the age of 50 Not everybody... I love Bacharach but I'm not really a fan of HA's... ...except for gems like "This Guy's In Love With You" - Herb Alpert and other stuff... ...which, by way, seems to be one of Liam Gallagher's icons... and he's not 50 yet...
bazooka Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Pride Of Man - Quicksilver Messenger Service (1968) Lonesome For A Dime - Buster Benton (1979)
Farin Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Sunflower ~ Low (2001) youtube and mp3 stream I decided against Broadway (So Many People), because, while equally as good, this one is more well known When they found your body Giant X's on your eyes With your half of the ransom You bought some sweet, sweet, sweet Sweet sunflowers And gave them to the night Underneath the star of David A hundred years behind behind my eyes And with my half of the ransom I bought some sweet, sweet, sweet Sweet sunflowers And gave them to the night Wolf Like Me ~ TV on the Radio (2006) youtube and mp3 stream Got a curse I cannot lift Shines when the sunset shifts When the moon is round and full Gotta bust that box gotta gut that fish My mind has changed My body's framed, But God I like it My heart's aflame My heart is strained But God I like it
BlueAngel Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 ^^ One for each. "Strict Machine" - Goldfrapp (2003) "The Drowners" - Suede (1992)
Lea Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 Your video was removed BlueAngel. I hope the one I replaced it with is ok
Blue_In_Green Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Don't know how these two haven't made the list before, but anyway... Miles Davis - Blue In Green Marvin Gaye - Just To Keep You Satisfied
Tenacious_Peaches Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Something Beautiful - Trombone Shorty ft. Lenny Kravitz (2010) Just a Little Overcome - Ollie and the Nightingales (1971)
Tenacious_Peaches Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Defying Gravity (live) - Idina Menzel (2006) {YouTube} If you want to hear the studio version of her pop remix of the song, here's the Grooveshark link --> mp3 I love that song! I nominated it a while back but I don't think anyone else voted for it. At least it will get two votes this time.
Blue_In_Green Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 So if the artist has already been in the competition before we can't vote for them? Wouldn't it make more sense to say that if a song has been in it before it can't be voted for? You are missing out on the opportunity of exposing people to a lot of songs thjey might not have heard.
pinkstones Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 My sister has the version that was done on Glee on her iPod, and I didn't care for it so I sought out the original. I love her voice, it's absolutely amazing.
pinkstones Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 So if the artist has already been in the competition before we can't vote for them? If the artist has made the list before, you can't nominate them this week. The opening post explains the rules.

I love her voice, it's absolutely amazing. I'm a total Gleek so of course I love that version, but I must admit Idina smokes them. She is spectacular.
Blue_In_Green Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Sorry about that ***embarrassed *** I had a look at one of the other lists and assumed the rules would be the same in this one. In that case I'll keep Mr Davis as one nominee and add: Eric B. & Rakim - Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29KvnMY413s
pinkstones Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 For the benefit of our final list compiler, here are Blue_In_Green's two nominations this week: Blue In Green - Miles Davis (1959) Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em - Eric B. & Rakim (1990) In the future, you should post your noms like that -- it's easier for whoever started the thread to compile all the songs when it's time to vote. Ooops, BTW....welcome to Songfacts!
pinkstones Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 I like a few versions of songs they've done. Like A Prayer, Lean On Me and Take a Bow, to be specific. I'm not a fan of the show, but like I said my sister is and she's got all this music on her iPod that she plays constantly. They're not bad.
Blue_In_Green Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks for the welcome! I checked the Help section but I'm not sure how to link to the youtube files from this particular message board and make it so that just the song title and artist is displayed. Could someone please show me how? Thanks.
pinkstones Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks for the welcome! I checked the Help section but I'm not sure how to link to the youtube files from this particular message board and make it so that just the song title and artist is displayed. Could someone please show me how? Thanks. It's real simple. Write out your nominations like this: [url = youtube link to song]Song - Artist (year of release) Only without the spaces around the equal sign.
Tenacious_Peaches Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Welcome to SF, Blue In Green. Awesome nominations. Rakim has one of the best voices in the game.
Blue_In_Green Posted June 2, 2010 Report Posted June 2, 2010 Thanks! He's my all-time favourite MC, without a doubt.
